Did it used to come in a big jar in sort of crystal form? Were there layers of different colours? What else was there? Kop kops Pear drops those little round toffee balls coated in chocolate I ought to be able to think of loads but it's all missing.

Rainbow Kali with a liquorice spoon It came in a jar - strawberry kali or rainbow kali. If you walked past Casa Disco, turn left at Corner Pin there's a classic sweet shop up there on your left. Used to have whole rows of jars - kali, yorkshire mixtures, rhubarb and custards, black jacks, fruit salads (avec pomegranete), white mice (treat after visiting Mr Nutbrown the dentist on racecommon rd- wtf?), kola kubes .... I haven't been for 30+ years mind things could have changed. Kali, surely it's banned now?
Yay! That's the kind of thing. The sweet shop's gone now. There was a gap of about 7" (nearly a kilometre in metric) between that buliding and the next. Hardly anyone noticed it but if you peered down there there was often a cat nursing kittens. They give birth, nursed and raise them in that 7" gap under the noses of all the shoppers.
RE: Sign of old age and insanity I've always had a "thing" for winter candy , but I've rarely seen any for some years now .
Kop Kops rock Can still buy them from Watsons on Shambles Street.. But the most distressing news i have heard is that Lion have been bought out by Maynards- which could mean the end of proper midget gems.
Classic hard midget gems already gone mate. Black one now purple and balckcurrant flavour Rediscovered hard spanish on swet stall on market other day tho
I see that texan bars have made a comeback Although I did not think that they taste the same- or last as long.
