maybe he should go

I rate him, always have and think he's been as good as ever for us this year. He's been at Barnsley his entire career and supported them as a boy....... (blagger)

However, if he continues to argue with the manager as he apparently did earlier in the season and then breaking this rule which it seems the rest of the team kept to, and results improved during this time, perhaps we should let him go as we can always find another centre half and these problems can only have a negative effect on the team.

Never said he didn't go down the leagues to come back ...

..... he gets lots of stick on here for fook all, was a very young lad when Steve Parkin binned him off to York (and we all know what a top manager and judge of player he was don't we?) and there's plenty would have had him back over the last few years when he's been banging the goals in

The problem here as I see it is that if he has been breaking the drinking ban all the others would expect to be able to do the same.

Then we would have a complete breakdown of Club discipline and anarchy would prevail.

But then that would be Daveys fault I suppose!

On the other hand a few bottles of booze never did my School Boy Hero Georgie Best any harm did it?

If Kay can not accept Club discipline then he should be shown the door.

As far as i am aware he was not the only one breaking the ban, but i am not going to say who else did as i was told in confidence.

well im almost certain he wont be the only one who as been drinking during the "no drinking" period.

its more likely that hes the only one who as been caught doing it, and more than likely by people who dont like him.

I think the key statement is "repeatedly breaking the non-drinking policy"

No doubt others have broken the rules by having a few beers and have probably got a bo**ocking for it, Kay included. However, if he's the only one that has then gone out repeatedly and broken the rules then that is what has resulted in him being disciplined. If that's the case then he can't really argue with it and neither can any of us.

Without knowing the full details of the story then we shouldn't really be saying whether it's fair or not.

No doubt someone with a 'very relaible source' will come on here and tell all.

I've heard from a very reliable source

That if it wasn't for his performances in the Birmingham, Southend and Palace games then we'd be relegated. Don't know how that fits into the scheme of things.

whats that got to do with anything, or do we just have a rule that says its ok to keep getting pissed as long as you can play afterwards.Do they all have to go through tests to see how much they can drink that allows them to play at a set level, rulers is rules in any other job if you get caught you take the consequences regardless.

    Remember Molby

Four prints before the match. Wilson's retorted to the effect that he'd buy his ale if he performed like he had in the match in question

    RE: Remember Molby

Is that true, or just something from the rumour mill? Having said that, he did tend to run out of what little steam he had steam at half time on a few occasions. Maybe his hangover kicked in.

Having said that, have you ever read any of Mick Quinn's autobiography? Have seen a few extracts, that guy was a proper drinking legend!

ok, I will re-phrase your statement

That if it wasn't for his performances in the Birmingham, Southend and Palace games then we'd be relegated. Don't know how that fits into the scheme of things

sorry, don't need to be re-phrased, but read that statement but imagine nardiello.

you could say it that way, but there are 11 on the field, and we weren't single handedly saved by Kay.

    I agree

I don't want to see him leave the club. I think, especially as back up, he should stay and see how he progresses. However, if he has, as the statement says, repeatedly borken the rules then you can't excuse him for being fined.

Look at Freddie Flintoff in the world cup. One of the best all rounders in the world and one of the few bowlers with any control or ability but because he got pissed and broke the rules he was fined and dropped. Everyone should abide by the rules.

How do you know how Davey was treating Kay? Reid was the club captain, and Nyatanga was just better than the pair of them. When Nyatanga left, Kay came back in. Generally theres no smoke without fire. I want Kay in the team too, but if he's breaching club discipline, he's breaching club discipline.

I do worry they're trying to get it out the club, but its just a thought with no real substance to it.
