I wonder if the Anthony Kay situation will have a bad effect on the team. He is one of the bigger personalities and is a very good friend to a lot of players. And the way he’s been treated doesn’t look good. Just one point, how can an employer put on a booze ban? If anyone was told by work that you couldn’t drink from Sunday to Thursday night what would you do? There’s a difference in getting battered and having the few pints now and again. I’m told Kay wasn’t battered and that he was out with some close friends and family on some occasions. Also any idea what can be done to try and sort out a BBC Radio Barnsley or whatever? I have never had a problem with BBC Radio Sheffields Coverage (then again I rarely listen) of us and we are featured more often than not when we play away. I agree last Saturday may have been bad and no I didn’t hear it. Come on, calm down over it, its not end of the world stuff is it?
I think it's more a case of turning up for work still under the influence. Quite a few firms nowadays, particularly those with Americanparent companies, don't allow lunchtime drinking and have a policy where you are not allowed on siteif you have had a drink too.
There are plenty of jobs where turning up under the influence would get you the sack. In fact in most jobs it would be gross misconduct. I know a bloke who got the sack from a Fat Green Grocers. He would have a few pints before starting Nights and one day they had a breathalyser waiting for him. Instant dismissal. I understand that Kay himself drives to work, if he has, as alleged, been turning up under the influence, there could also be a drink drive issue.
Who has alleged he's been turning up for work under the influence? You're turning speculation on here into fact again aren't you.
His differentiating between booze ban at work and any time close to working and drinking in his personal time I think mate.
speculation and gossip firmly put an end to By the end of next week he'll have been getting pissed during training and nobbing the chairman's wife.
:O Dirk I hope you aren't trying to say that the statement was anything more than an attempt to be a happy smiley friendly club that keeps the fans in the loop.
RE: :O Dirk I'm not saying anything of the sort. people ( as ever) are putting their own interpretation on events. jay's summed it up perfectly above.
RE: Who has alleged he's been turning up for work under the influence? No defence. In court like. Should things ever get daft.
RE: speculation and gossip firmly put an end to I think bbs contributors responses to this issue have shown a great insight into how they think.</p>
