<p class="big">Kayode Odejayi has declared that he is looking forward to spending next season with Cheltenham. </p> The striker has been linked with a move to the Championship and reports over the weekend suggested Cheltenham had agreed a deal to sell him. </p> Robins chairman Paul Baker rejected the speculation, insisting that he remained hopeful of keeping Odejayi at Whaddon Road. </p> Odejayi admits he has spoken to an unnamed club and is keen to test himself at a higher level. </p> However, he has also assured fans that he is enjoying life at Cheltenham and is happy to stay at the club next season. </p> "The manager (John Ward) is aware I have spoken to another club but I am still a Cheltenham player who is looking forward to next season and that is the way it is at the moment," he told the Gloucestershire Echo. </p> "If you ask anyone in football they will tell you they want to play at the highest level possible but it has been a great couple of years at Cheltenham and I am happy and I am enjoying my football. </p> "I am living with my girlfriend and I am very settled so I will wait and see, weigh up my options and see what is best for my career. </p> "It has all come out of the blue and it is still in the early stages." </p>
As someone's already stated on here All the hallmarks of the farce with Leon Constantine. Looks like we're embroiled in trying to get this lad's transfer value raised.
read it again mate....to me it reads like ..... a player hedging his bets.If he stays then he is the loyal hero , and if he goes (wether its to us or whoever) then he has covered his tracks well with what he says...he has put out a win win statement, quite cleverly put together most likely by his agent.
Don't think it says that - he's clearly hedging his bets - he's not going to come out and say he is looking forward to moving until it is done and dusted. Can't really blame him.
To be honest... Not seen Odejayi much, but from what I have seen he could be quite useful... Not sure I'd want him as my main striker but as a squad player he might do a job.
The one thing that has been accepted is that we haven't had a striker with genuine blistering pace who could score goals for a good while, and I do think its what we need. Whether its Odejayi or not, I'm glad Davey has recognised the problem.
Folan is Premiership Odejayi is league 1 , no-one from the Prem is remotely interested. Why? Cos he aint good enough. He has had 2 decent seasons, before that he was garbage. Richards had a better goalscoring record than that. He is playing at the bottom of league 1 for a reason, he aint good enough for above.
but dirk how much of the story has come from our end e.g. website, papers it seesm to be all there end? NOTW had a paragraph on it and there agent could have easily used that to up the price when there could be no truth in the story at all?
RE: Folan is Premiership So your saying we should compete with premiership teams for strikers?</p> Did you also think the same when we signed Howard and Hassell?</p> </p> " He is playing at the bottom of league 1 for a reason, he aint good enough for above."</p> The reason he's playing at the bottom of league 1 is because the club he plays for isnt good enough, it's a team game remember. </p> </p>
