after day 4 of the Olympics and the billions pumped into "Team GB" we see that the sporting giants of Kazahkstan are above us in the Olympic medals table.

To be fair. Kazakhstan is oil-rich and invests in sport - see the Astana cycle team. Their top sportsment will probably get as much funding as ours...

Jesus, it was never on the cards to get 4 golds by day 4 - give 'em a break. You sound like my missus who comments on my DIY half-way through before I've finished. If they're still ahead of us on day 14 I'll show my arse.

They have 1 more gold than us but 5 less medals overall. Them 8th, us 11th. We will be well above them at the end of the games.

Another silver in the bag for us. In the pool, Men's 200 breast. I think we are doing ok.

I think we are doing fine so far, lots of our best medal chances are not near the end of the comps yet, ie sailing etc.
I think we have a chance for a couple more in the rowing too..
One of my fave bits of this games is the first ever win for the Womens Volleyball team after their support money was withdrawn in 2009, they have raised money by any way they could just to get to the games. The sheer joy in winning their first ever match was something I think epitomises the Olympic spirit.

The Aussies are having a bit of a mare aren't they? They usually clean up in the swimming.

Missed this thread before but it has made me smile. Mind you we are only half way so still time for Kazakhstan to regain the lead.
