As a club we are always going to struggle to keep any good player or manager, as we can't compete financially.

However, having listened to the Harry Rednapp tax saga I wonder if we could do something similar with Kieth and Flickers.

why don't we put them on a percentage of any transfer dealings (Something that Mr. Bates probably wouldn't do).

improving players seems to be a forte of theirs, so it could be in both our interests, and may stave off intrest from elsewhere in the management.

There are some concerns around that system (i.e. playing players just to get them sold, even if their's a better player on the bench) but it could be quite a good system.

Too many conflicts of interest IMO. Every manager should want to keep their best players, these sort of deals may mean a manager wants to get rid of his best players to fill his own bank account.

Marlon - we're usually on the same page and I agree with you again.
We know these two are The Next Big Thing. We need to tie them in. They can help re-build the dream - in time and if we show patience. However it could be too late.
I think if offered it they will go. However - no one is bigger than the club, as we know, but what a loss they would be. I really think that, had they had a warmer Barnsley welcome, it would make them think long and hard about even talking to anyone else. Alas, that is not the case.
I fear for the worst - Leeds - closer to home for them both, and another stepping stone to the Premiership, which is where Hillcroft will end up.
I'm usually forever the optimist but i this case I'm seriously worried.
    Gerry Taggart anyone?

cheers steveo always good to hear from you.
i think if we could do a similar thing as blackpool do with holly it could improve their commitment to us a while longer.
gerry taggert a possibility but i'm thinking more darren ferguson who's doing a similar job at peterborough, but would he come to bfc or would he wait for a bigger club.
the board at preston gave him no time to build and paid the consequences imo.
