Its just broke on SPN that the Keegan is being linked with the Soton managers job if the Le Tissier consortium bid goes through. I just dont see this working and Keegans track record of walking away when the going gets tough would worry me if I was a fan.
Does anyone else think Keegan is all hype and no substance as a manager?

He brings a lot of media coverage to the club he is at, and he is undoubtedly a good motivator and man manager but he isn't up to doing a job in football management. He can't handle the pressure and I have heard reservations about his coaching abilities. I reckon L1 might be about his level. If it all goes wrong and they are near the bottom at xmas he will be gone again.

Didn't he get Fulham promoted from L1?

And every club he has managed has had funds to deal in the transfer market. I doubt that will be the case at Southampton.

he tends to spend it well though good managers instinct and he was starting to get some better performances out of the newcastle team that had been abysmal under big Sam. Most importantly although his tactics can be a little one dimensional (the most effective dimension though) he is just about the best man manager in the game, look at the personalities like Ginola he had to cope with at Newcastle the first time. That could be most important at a team dejected at losing its top division status.

Oh the rant will go down in history - in a lot of peoples opinions for thw wrong reasons, ie embarrassing - but IMO was not only funny but I think it was far from embarrassing. He had a go at Fergie, and even though Fergie knows what he's doing with these mind games, I simply love any personality having a go at him like that. Funny as ****.

Keegan is a legend in my eyes, and always will be. I'd personally love him to be our manager.

Of course it's a fair argument about the money, but how many players have arrived at Newcastle since he left this time? Not many i'm willing to bet. In that time, a well organised team that got a draw at Man Utd slumped to relegation without so much as a whimper. He galvanised the club and showed his credentials.

Besides, how may managers / clubs have spent money and failed. There are plenty, most definitely.
