HUME RETURN UNLIKELY THIS SEASON - DAVEY
Posted on: Mon 16 Feb 2009

REDS manager Simon Davey does not expect to have striker Iain Hume back in contention for a place in the team this season.

Simon said: "Iain has had his scan although I am still to sit down with him and talk things through. The scan showed that he is still two or three months away from everything healing properly although he has been given the go ahead to step up his rehab work.

"There is still a bit of a mental block there as well when it comes to contact work and it will still be a long road back for him. Iain is training with us a little and has done again this morning. It is doubtful whether we will see him again this season and Iain will probably say the same. However, he is where he should be on his road to recovery".

my heart is with him 100%...but somehow I have a dread feeling we have lost the lad as a player..but

having said that, Football is just a game. The lads welfare is of the most paramount importance. God knows I wish him so well and back in a red shirt...deep inside I feel we have seen the last of him on the field of play.I hope my fears are unfounded.I hope he is back in a Red shirt ASAP.But if the worst comes to it , then I hope we (as in BFC) can assist the lad into maybe a role in coaching. Come on Iain pull it off fella ...we are all certainly with you in this.

I reckon we'll see him in a reds shirt again but I don't care if it's 3 weeks, 3 months or another year. He seems to have the character to overcome this. Good signs that he is back at the club and doing the small stuff.
