    we need teachers.

Have you seen where they are going to increase University fees again?

My brother is at Chester ans pays £3000 per year. The Heads of universities are saying that that isn't enough and the fees need to double or even triple. They have voted that when fees are reviewed in 2009 the cost will be up to £10,000 per year for Science courses, seeing as I have always wanted to be a Vet it looks as if that is now going to have to be reconsidered.

I had to laugh at the sentence that said
"Student loans could also become more expensive to pay"
    Well you don't say.

How is keeping children at school until 18 to get an education and then not being able to go to University going to help?

we wil be ok with tuitin fees as we've already enrolled our fees stay fixed now till we leave. i only pay £2000 for tuiton fees but i stil find it ridiculous! i dont feel that im gettin that much worth out of it. unis def need nothing like 10k PER YEAR of EACH student. its a rip off

    That's what my brother said.

He said £3000 is too much especially as you have to buy all your own books and materials needed for the courses.

    Thank you sweetheart...

It's nice to know we're valued!

I get a student loan to cover my tuition fees so it isn't that bad for me. Plus, 'cos I'm doing a PGCE I get paid as well.

Where there's a will, there's a way Laura - if you've really set your heart on it you'll find a way.

Some kids I teach don't want to be at school until they're sixteen, let alone eighteen! I agree with the principle but I can't see how succesful it'll be in practice...

As someone who works at a Uni

I can tell you that we (the staff) don't want to see fees increased, however, we also see that our pay is far behind the private sector and slipping further back.

Class disruption is bad enough now in Yr 8

by Yr 11 it will be even worse so to have to stay on until Yr 13 (18) is going to make it very hard for teachers to teach the ones that do want to learn.

I know the other thing is to get a job where they teach you a skill,
    e.g. a plumber, builder etc,
but not many firms have the time or staff to be able to do that.

I'd better open a very high interest bank account and get saving. A loan of £30,000 will have to be paid back somehow!

    I find...

...that unless you keep on top of your game at all times, it leads to sloppiness creaping in at times when you need to be more professional.

When driving I always indicate when turning, even if no-one is around, otherwise it leads to bad habits.

I can understand teachers need to be paid

but if you raise fees too much then how can the majority of my generation afford to continue learning and offer something to the next?

indicating when no-one is around is considered a fault

do it three times on your driving test and you would fail.

    I know that

but how many firms can take on school leavers and train them?

I've set my heart on sticking it to 80% of Girls Aloud.
How will I "find a way"?

    Your advice would be appreciated.
