Still trying to get my head around this one.I have no problem taking Steele out of the firing line I would probably have done the same last night but to overlook Alnwick in favour of Pollitt seems very strange to me.Before I get jumped on by the" Alnwicks rubbish "brigade please think how many times have you seen him play,in all fairness no ones seen him enough to make a proper judgement. It worries me that the treatment of Alnwick could cause a few ripples in the dressing room because that is the last thing we need at the moment. If I was Alnwick I would be seriously be considering my future at Oakwell.
Just said the same on twitter. I don't get why him - especially when been told that "we now have two number 1's rather than a number 1 and a number 2".
I don't know if you've seen or heard Flitcrofts interview post match, but he was asked if Alnwick still had an opportunity at Oakwell. I was left with the impression Alnwick is likely to be getting shipped out. He said something along the lines of bringing Pollitt in we now had two number 1's and not a 1 and a 2who is used to being a 2. I doubt Alnwick will be here too much longer
Thought it strange that Alnwick didn`t get the gig against Sc unthorpe. Alnwick O`Brien and Hassell gone at the end of season anymore non Hillcroft players.
Also strange was McNulty not being brought on at Blackburn then starting last night. Am I missing summat here.
On Flickers interview in Radio DeeDah "I felt for quite a while at this football club that Luke Steele....maybe not under quite enough competition, so er, I decided that, er, to just relieve him of a bit of pressure, the pressure had been building up on Luke and er you know I've brought in a player that I feel, er, a big character, er, been used to playing in big games and just give us a little bit of solidity behind the back four, so er, Luke's been rested tonight" So, there wasn't enough competition, but Steele was under too much pressure? eh??
I er dont er like er Luke er Steele. I er tried to er get rid er of her, i mean him er in the er summer but er it didnt er work.
Have said it before but Dibble needed a chance. Perhaps Flicker knew wed concede a load so letting Pollitt go inbetween the sticks just means no goals against Steele last night
My concern is we have a manager who is starting to talk utter ***** in his interviews. Did anyone hear him Saturday when he was waffling on about the professionals that delivered his new baby? What the **** as that got to do with conceding 5 goals against Blackburn??? * *now scratching head
