try to be fair its a great stadium for the lower divisions which is really where they belong, and or their crowds, not even full for a derby, poor show Pikeys
I'll be fair... their concourse (that the right term? Where you buy snap and stuff!) is very nice. But it is not a football stadium. No atmosphere.
Not really. Theres holds 15,231 ours holds 23,009 which is a difference of 7,778 (34% bigger?). Attendance of 12,708 last night means 2,508 empty seats (83% full), when we played them at Oakwell last season the attendance was 15,086 with 7,923 empty seats (66% full). To put it another way when we played them at Oakwell last season the attendance wasn't enough to fill the Keepmoat. Look at when we play Wednesday for example, we regularly give about 7,500 seats and we still don't sell out (biggest in recent years still had near enough 2,000 empty seats), they played them last season and there were only 408 empty seats and how many of those were used for segregation? My point is that it's a bit unfair to criticise their attendance when ours isn't a million times better. Considering our recent history compared to theirs and the money spent on players by the two clubs our attendance really should be a couple of thousand above there's shouldn't it. Both clubs get a decent attendance for the area, nothing more, nothing less.
thing is when SWFC played at the keepmoat the home end was full of Fowls. Also take into consideration that when we played sheff wed last season, it was a night game which involves issues such as work (i only just made it) which can lower the attendances. Also, you have to take into consideration that from the 23000 seats at oakwell around 8000 are earmarked for the away fans. Sheff weds only brought 4 thousand last season. And i booted one in the B*ll*cks.
Keepmoat...........and the concourse Firstly...........the Keap moat is the worst football league ground I have been to Even Belle Vue had a better atmosphere Second.......the concourse was garbage.............mens toilet space isnt big enough, the place were jammed packed at half time........women were also queueing at their toilets And as for getting something to eat and drink............forget it Very very disappopinted in their ground............(but very impressed with their team)
RE: Keepmoat...........and the concourse You can't have been to many grounds if you think the Keepmoat is the worse. That design of ground isn't my cup of tea (soul-less, featureless, unoriginal etc) but the facilities are light years ahead of many.
I don't think it's that bad Like you said, it's a bit soul-less, but it's neat and tidy, the view from the stands is good and there's plenty of leg room.. As for complaining about queueing for the toilets and for food, that's just dumb. There were 3,000 of us, of course there were going to be queues.
The Keepmoat isn`t out of place in amongst football league grounds of today whereas Belle Vue was a poor non league ground at time of closure. Beggars cant be choosers.
With segregation the capacity of the Keepmoat is 14,800 so our attendance against Donny last season would be enough to fill it. Let's not forget that Donny are experiencing their best period for 50+ years and it is a far bigger place than Barnsley.
RE: It's a nice little setup they have there. Just has no character. nt it is a nice little ground but stuck in the middle of nowhere and lacks character and atmosphere, regarding the attendances of both teams they're just leveling out after four seasons or so of success, we on the other hand have had three years of dire brain numbing torture at the hands of the clueless welsh one, i have a feeling our attendances under Robins will rise in line with continuous improvement on the park and dare i mention prices, another reduction in next season ticket prices which should help swell the well.
Agree. Most new stadiums are almost the same these days. Didn't like the view, but I don't really like sitting behind the net anyway.
Bit fecking tedious that mate. End of the day, they should be getting more than that. Saying that, I wouldn't go and watch football in that stadium.
The food on one counter ran out before half time - BUT you can get a beer in the ground. 3k there and prob sold 4-500 pints. £3 a good price to be honest considering. Least they got something better than we offer. Reason toilets crowded is of course smokers....
