Only 49 years old, found dead at his home apparently. I can't say that I was ever a huge fan or anything, but The Prodigy's hit songs are great and bring back some fond memories. There's another piece of my youth gone...
RIP. 5 years younger than me. I'm not their biggest fan, but they had their moments & were not mellowing out, from recent tracks I have heard.
I think there are very few band members who you could describe as iconic, even less so ones that weren't as instrumental in the songs and a key singer. Liam Howlett has always been the brains and creative architect behind the prodigy, but everyone identifies Keith Flint as the front man. Fat of the Land and Music for the Jilted Generation remain two of my favourite albums and never fail to bring back memories from Ibiza podiums to hours of repeated play of their albums at home. Saw them live twice, at GMex supported by Foo Fighters on their tour at the time of Fat of the Land and more recently during Invaders Must Die, a midnighter at Brixton where they did a 2 and a half hour set. Another music icon leaves and exits the stage. RIP Keith.
Saw him once with the Prodigy (Glastonbury 94 or 95 IIRC) and once with his own band, Flint (Download). Great frontman. RIP
Loved his music and met him a few times we both raced bikes in the same class he was a really top bloke and would always stop and chat with fans. Went on to start his own british superbike team who also raced at the TT. Smashing lad will be very sadly missed. ove
Saw Prodigy in 97 at Glastonbury. Only year I went (Radiohead, Roni Size, Chemical Brothers were also on). Was about a 30 minute delay due to technical issues, but put on a great show.
Used to go more in the very early days in Ossett, but went to the After Dark a fair bit too. Later my mates used to run Superconductor in Leeds which was a great night, with lots of Detroit legends on.
Sad news I went clubbing one night in Leeds and went upstairs in what is now believe is the The Wire club again the Corn Exchange. I wondered why loads of people were huddled around the DJ booth. I pushed my way through the crowd to be greeted by the wild face of Keith in the middle of an impromptu set. Best. Surprise. Ever, and a great night/morning.
