I cannot believe all the pi**ing and moaning on here and around the town after a run of bad results. Grow a pair you big girls. I'm sick of hearing folk bairning and rooring because our team is struggling. I was always brought up to believe that Barnsley people had some steel and nerve, in addition to a harsh sense of reality and a sense of humour to boot. I read on here about the pride that still runs through the townsfolk at the unity, strength and nerve that was shown during the Miner's Strike. I don't see any of that character anymore. It's just rhetoric as far as I'm concerned. Yes, I'm worried that we are struggling, and no, I don't know for sure if we will turn it around and stay up. But the vitriol being directed at Keith Hill is a disgrace and you should all be ashamed. How would you feel if those closest to you, your kids, your wives, your husbands, were judged and insulted by their peers for having a bad week at work? If they were victimised and targeted in the same way that Hill has been these past few days? Give the man a chance. And I don't give a toss if you pay your money. The booing is a disgrace. It's hard times. Dig deep for once in your lives and show some commitment to the cause. Show some commitment whilst it is hard and whilst the club need you more than ever. Prove yourself in the same way that you are demanding Hill and the players prove themselves. Make no mistake, this division has been getting harder and harder, culminating in the toughest division that I have seen outside of the Premier in my lifetime. There are some very big clubs, paying very big wages that we can no longer compete with. I'm not saying we should wave the white flag, but if we go down then we go down fighting and we go down together. If the worst happens so what? We've been there before and we'll bounce back again. We simply don't have the resource to guarantee safety in the Championship anymore, so if we do achieve it then it will be a huge achievement. Yes there are things that Hill must learn and quickly and so too the players. But have you never gone through a learning curve in your job or your life??? Would you expect to be condemned in the same way that you are already condemning Hill? This is not a rallying call as such. I am not a happy clapper either. But the vitriol, panic and over the top reaction being shown by adults is frankly embarrasing. I want to stand shoulder to shoulder with the strong men and women of Barnsley as we ride this out as one. Pull yourselves together people.
And one more thing... Cardiff are getting spanked at home to Brighton. Leicester are losing at home AGAIN. Sh*t happens. Move on.
well said mike, im fed up with them aswell. just had a look through my st and i cant see where it says you must talk **** and get on the back of the team on every opportunity.
But we aren't fighting are we? Far from it, the 2 displays this week have shown a distinct lack of spirit from the team, and very little "commitment to the cause". And I would suggest the Keith Hill has brought a lot of the vitriol on himself by blaming the fans. I'd say the majority of people on here are willing to give the man a chance. I've only read one or two threads even alluding to replacing him. But talk's cheap, whisky costs money. Hill must now start to show that he has the credentials to lift the team, something which he stated he had after the Morecambe game.
Isn't this, and the pub etc, the place for moaning? Better to do it there than in the ground. I absolutely don't agree with the booing of the team during the game but if it is after the game I see no problem with fans showing their displeasure at the performance. And I certainly don't see any problem with people offering their opinion, even if it is highly critical, on a forum that is meant for people giving their opinion.
Of course. And I'm not suggesting otherwise. I'm saying it's way over the top and a bit pathetic (IMO). I bet the Leicester fans are gutted. 2 points and 1 goal dif better off than meltdown BFC. A sense of perspective is needed.
You might as well talk to the floor mate, I have been saying this for years, better on here than at Oakwell on Saurdays. Apparently it is a cardinal sin to even think anything that can be construde as slightly dis-approving of Mr Hill and the club.
That is the point we are Barnsley fans , I for one dont give a flying frig abouit how bad the other teams are, I dont pay to see them, I pay to see my club, BARNSLEY FC. I have watched us through some bad times and some incredible times and a hell of a lot more inbetween, but the perfomances in the last week have been diabolical, yet Hill seems to think the players have actually done OK, FFS! He cannot see that the tactics and formation are having a bloody awful effect on the way we play. It is all the fans fault for being negative. I really thought the fans were very reserved yesterday, if he thinks that was bad , then God help him if things do not turn around.
Why what will happen to him? Nothing other than losing his job. We will then appoint another manager who finds it impossible to keep us up with the lack of funds available. Will everyone slag the next manager off too? Cos I sure as hell remember lots of fans slagging off Robins the second half of last season too for the piss poor football and relegation form we showed.
"I don't see any of that character anymore. It's just rhetoric as far as I'm concerned." What does that even mean? This whole thing read like some kind of weird 1984 truthspeak, are you a real person? I'm all for getting behind the team, but some level of frustration must be expected when we can barely keep hold of the ball for 45% of the time at home and get drubbed in such a manner. I don'r care if we're playing Middlesbro' or Barcelona, giving up with 25 minutes to play which is effectively what I saw with my own 2 eyes last night is just not acceptable - if we're going down, go down with a fight, not like poodles.
