It is no surprise to me that I've been married for 20-odd years.
I'm a fairly affable sort of person. I don't dwell in the past, I don't dwell in things that have gone, I always look to the future. That sort of attitude can often help in my home life, but it can also aid me when it comes to football management too!
The defeat at Cardiff has gone. We had a good hard look at the game on Sunday. The players know where they went wrong, I know where I went wrong.
I had the responsibility of picking a team to go to and try win in south wale. It was then up to the players to perform.
We were beaten. And we realise that we are only as good as our work-rate and our endeavour. But sometimes you have to hold your hands up and congratulate the opposition. Cardiff were very very good on the day. They have some top players who really performed.
Sometimes it's good to remember where we are in the financial food chain in this division. Of course, the hope is that we can over-achieve and that us certainly our aim. We won't forget Saturday's loss, we will learn from it, and there has been a great response from the players on the training pitch. Flicker and I can sense the players are hungry to do well n our next two matches both at home against Bristol city on Saturday and then hull on Tuesday. We can't look back, we've got to look forward.
    FOOTBALL GRAPEVINE
Am I looking to bring in new players? That' was again the question put to me this week. Sometimes I can't understand why it is always trotted out. I am not constantly looking to make signings. I haven't the Money to,plus I'm reasonably happy with what my squad are giving me at the moment. I haven't made any enquiries about anybody recently, so you can ignore the football grapevine, which is too often filled up with media speculation and agent speculation. I am happy with working and developing the players I have with me here at oakwell.
It doesn't mean I'm not constantly keeping tabs on what is out there, I am. But the only time I will be actively looking for replacements is when the players are not doing what I want them to, I have a little bit of money available to spend or loan sighings go back to their parent clubs.
