After watching Barnsley for well over 40 years I find Keith Hill the best ever when it comes to interviews. He's honest, direct, funny, calls a spade a spade but more important to me he's very inspirational. As a supporter he fills me with confidence and I genuinely look forward to every game.He said earlier in his tenure that he wanted players who would run through a brick wall for him ,I think he has those players here at Oakwell,he must make them feel ten feet tall with his team talks.
Is this the same Keith Hill who was roundly condemned on here for his interview after the Bristol City game when it was percieved that he critisised supporters for negative comments. As supporters, it is important that we do not become too negative after defeats. There will be periods when we have a series of bad results, when there is a tendence to pile negative comments, one on another. At the end of it all, it looks to the outsider that the manager, and the administration of the club is incompetent. Those comments ceased only after the win last week. Equally, it is easy to become too enthusiastic about the club and its management after a few good results. Personally, I am happy to view the situation in the longer term. At last, the club seems to be making some progress and I hope that it can be sustained, but after two good results, it is too early tell. Let us all wait until the end of the season before we draw conclusions one way or the other. What I am already convinced of is that Keith Hill's football philosophy is an entertaining one and I believe he deserves our support for this alone.
Good post. It goes from one extreme to the other on here, much more common ground needed. I was pleased to see KHiller start with the same line up that beat Doni and didn`t give way to starting with Ranger?Drinkwater. Players coming back from injury or suspension shouldn`t in my opinion walk straight back into the team. Well done Keef.
It's a tough league this year as it is every year, but we're actually one point worse off than last year, and only five points off the relegation zone. A loss yesterday and we would be looking over our shoulders, a win at Peterborough and we're looking at the top six. The Christmas period will dictate how our season pans out, and I'm hoping for at least 12 points from the next seven fixtures to set us up nicely to be hitting mid table.
I think that was the type of blame that hill tried to put on the fans - when the team losing was blamed on the fans for urging the players to forget their defensive duties etc
keith does put his foot in it now and again but its probably fair to say most of these occasions are directly after a defeat when emotions are still running high, the reeporters know what he is like and try to get him to say something controversial, which he oftens obliges, as for my own personal opinion , keith can call me whatever he wants so long as barnsley are playin well and pickin up results, onwards and upwards, you reds
I'm not saying he is the second coming or the worlds greatest manager I'm just saying how much I enjoy his interviews and I have since day one.
Agreed BMW. Hill's interviews are entertaining whether he's slagging off the fans or gushing after a great win. The bloke's got a personality, which is more than can be said for our previous two managers...
