Sadly, the author fails to explain why 3-5-2 would work any better than the diamond. Both systems require two competent wing backs and unfortunately we do not even possess one.
We've not played with wing backs so difficult to say who can/can't play there. Williams on the right and John on the left? Maybe Smith could do it? Scowen at RWB? Nows the time for experiments, we're safe and don't look like making the playoffs as we are, so let's try something different, you never know it might click, at the very least we'll be preparing for next season.
ahhhh Keith Lodge..............the former ''sports journalist'' of the 'chronic'. how apt....i'll disregard his report just as I used to when I actually read the 'chronic' ................and that was when folk actually bought the rag.... and it's even worse now. hope this helps
3-5-2 is almost obsolete at highest level. Although who was it playing it at World Cup? Was it Mexico? Whoever it was I remember they played it well. It's too easily demolished by 4-5-1/4-3-3. Leaves wingbacks pushed back by full back and winger doubling up. If we play it it will be a 10 year step backwards. In my opinion. Prob be proven wrong though as I usually am!
