Both linesmen and 4th official also suspended for 14 days. Finally the FA/PGMOL send a message that incompetence will not be tolerated. Personally i think it's rather lenient though
The suspension is about right. However, he is a crap ref. I've seen him ref is twice this season. It was like playing against 12 on both occasions. The "non" sending off incident at Ipswich cost us at least a point.
My bad, I mixed up two awful refs. Keith Stroud has been suspended from 28 days which is a start but not enough
I don't see the point in a suspension without him having to prove he knows the rules before being allowed to take charge again.
In a Newcastle game recently Newcastle scored a penalty but one of their players encroached so he ruled the penalty out. Now we all know that he should order a retake, it's been a rule for a long that everyone knows it. Except he didn't, he gave a freekick to Burton even though there is no rule in football where it could possibly be a freekick. He spoke to his assistants and not one out of the 4 of them knew that the rule was a retake for encroachment despite the Newcastle players and bench telling them. How the **** can an entire refereeing team be that bad that they do not know such a basic rule? Oh and against us he sent scowen off against Fulham when he was pulled back forcing him to make a longer range tackle for the ball. Instead of giving us the blatant foul he sent scowen off
I'm still to hear of an explanation for Wigan's penalty on Thursday. I know it's got its challenges refereeing, I understand they're only humans making the decisions, but ffs we've had some ridiculous penalties given against us this season. The one Thursday and the one at Fulham are proper beyond me.
Does the club get to see the referees report Whitey? If so do you ever get to see it? And could you enquire as to whether there is any specific rule banning the club from publishing it in the website.
There There was a similar challenge in the Newcastle v Leeds the only difference was that the Leeds player physically manhandled the Newcastle player to the ground inside the box and the ref played on . They say refereeing is a difficult job , no it isn't , it's just made to look difficult by incompetent and inconsistent blokes . No two are the same . I know Hecky never blames the refs but sometimes he could just point out that they are basically chuffing useless .
I think quite simply as their player slipped and almost went down, the ref must have been unsighted and guessed there was a push from our player. Thats the only excuse I can see when watching it again.
Not really one for conspiracy theories but a recent thread questioned whether there is corruption in football officiating. Having just seen the incident between Celtic and Ross county I cannot see how the referee (well placed) nor the linesman, could not see that the blatant, almost comedic, dive. The defender was not even close to the player who threw his arms in the air in that classic theatrical pose that usually indicates a 'simulation'. Granted that this modern disease (cheating) in football makes a referee's job harder but everyone except the officials could see it was blatant, even in real time, and without the need for replays The two officials involved (plus the fourth official) could surely not be that incompetent. Therefore you can only draw the conclusion that something else is going on in the game that we, the fans are not party to. No wonder the Authorities have been so resistent to technology as they have in RU. All the "it would slow the game down", "too costly" etc. is just a smoke screen.
