and Andy's spoke to the Chairman it says in this report from Sheffieldtoday.net. Reds player hunt foiled BARNSLEY boss Andy Ritchie has drawn a blank in his search for a centre-back and insists he won't be rushed into a move. Although the Oakwell chief has conceded that defender Matt Carbon has no chance of playing in the League One match at Rotheram United on Saturday, he insisted: "I've spoken to the chairman, we're not going to sign just anybody, we can play Bobby Hassell there." Ritchie added: "The experienced defender we looked at last week has now become unavailable and we looked at another one last night, who went off after 10 minutes. We're not having much luck." Barnsley are thought to have checked on Norwich City defender Jason Shackell, who broke into the Canaries' Premiership team last season but lost form this campaign and has been dropped by manager Nigel Worthington. The 22-year-old suffered what appeared to be a serious injury last night in Norwich reserves' 1-0 win over Watford. Ritchie will continue looking but knows he may have to wait until after the weekend to land his man. He was checking the form and progress of another centre- back today. Lee Grant, a 19-year-old who was at Aston Villa and York City, has been training with Barnsley and was being given a game in this afternoon's Pontin's League match with Rotherham United at Oakwell. If Grant shows promise he will be given another chance in a reserve game. Barnsley's summer signing, Richard Kell, took part in his first training session with the first-team squad yesterday. He has recovered from a broken leg but is not ready to feature in a game yet. Third-choice keeper David Scarsella is suspended from today's match following his red card in a reserve game against Walsall. n Barnsley reserves: Flinders, Harban, Laight, Grant, Atkinson, Jarman, Batley, Tonge, Jordan, Richards, Joynes. Subs: Wagstaff, Holt, Potter, Loukes. Former Barnsley left-back Tom Williams, who joined Gillingham this season, has been called into the Cyprus squad for World Cup qualifers against the Republic of Ireland and France. n Barnsley: P47 04 October 2005 « Previous PageNext »Page 1 of 1 More Barnsley Sport

OR The chairman may have asked him if he wanted to sign somebody else and Andy may have declined so as to maybe keep a space open for elsewhere in the team or as such time that an experienced centre half becomes available. This is reasoned debate about Barnsley Football Club.
"Lost form and was dropped " and now injured..... just the guy we need then, eh. Get him signed up Andy. You're on to a winner there.
Yes, that could well be the case Is it possible to have some sort of visual problem that results in you observing objects as larger than they really are? For instance, could someone look upon Bobby Hassell and see them as a 6'5" strapping centre half?
RE: "Lost form and was dropped " and now injured..... just the guy we need then, eh. Piss off or else it's Korea for you 2.
RE: Williams playing for Cyprus? He will probably only play away as there is a doubt whether he will be able to keep his crosses on the island.
RE: Williams playing for Cyprus? That is quite posibly the funniest post i have seen on here!!!! lol(bustin)
