What did Sting have to do with it?!

Of course he blames the police, makes him look good in the minds of all the self-pitying, head in the sand Scousers who just don't accept any responsibility at all.

I know it's not PC to criticise the victim culture experts of scouse land

BUT, as Cloughie said later it was scousers killing scousers, at the time I was working at Stocksbridge, and lads I worked with told me that there were scousers leaving the local pubs only ten minutes before the kick off time WITHOUT tickets saying they did that on a regular basis with the aim of arriving late and causing mayhem which usually had the effect of making the police open the gates and let them in. If you read the early reports from the police this is exactly what happened, the cop on the horse outside said he feared for his safety as his horse was lifted off the ground by the sheer force of the crowd around him and also that he feared the wall at the rear of the Leppings Lane End on the bank of the Dearn was about to collapse. But of course all this was swiftly forgot as the media sought to demonise the S/Y police force and sanctify the best fans in the land(?????). I have the greatest sympathy for those who perished and their families but I'm afraid the truth got lost very early in the investigation, I'm sure mistakes where made on the day and later, but the fact remains that if the fans without tickets had behaved themselves on the day, that tragedy wouldn't have happened. Question, who caused the tragedy at Heysell, oh sorry, it was those nasty Italians who got crushed under the wall that collapsed through the scousers pushing it over in their attempt to get at them because they had the temerity to chant at them. Like a lot of other people who have witnessed these so called fans first hand, stabbing opposing fans for instance, I could go on for ages about the frightening things these thuggish fans have subjected others to. Sorry rant over.

    Re they blamed Chelsey

I forgot to add didn't they also blame the stadium management cos the wall wasn't strong enough to withstand their attack.

They blamed the Juventus fans for not understanding the culture of fans "running" at each other and should have moved away from the wall

To be fair when it showed you the state of the ground it was very old fashioned and decrepit, so they said it was unfit to have staged the game in the first place. That doesn't mean though that every ground should be checked to see if can cope with stampeding scousers to make it safe

Many things contributed on the day

including the Police command and the Liverpool fans turning up drunk without tickets who both have to take their share of the blame.

However the finger's also got to be pointed at FA and the clubs for the errection of all the fences at football grounds, herding fans in like cattle. There were many alternatives to fencing but that was easiest.

Problem is now that many countries still have fencing round perimeters of pitches, notably the South and Central American grounds. Only a matter of time before the same happens over there if they keep them.

decision by David Duckenfield SYP not to check tickets

at the end of Leppings Lane as they had in previous years, pens to stop the sideways expansion of the crowd into safe areas away from the perimeter fences, drunken scousers turning up late with a deliberate policy of rushing the gate which lead to the crushing of innocent folk who had been in the ground before. In the 'blame game' there are no winners only the look in the eyes of parents and relatives who lost loved ones in a disaster that, although with hind sight was preventable, was waiting to happen.
