fight ruined by clash of heads No doubt the media will be back to blowing the smoke up Khan's arse, but for me, it was the clash of heads that made all the difference - although Khan was much the quicker man, Barrera wasn't in trouble. Take the cut out of the equation, the longer that fight went on, the more dangerous Barrera was going to get.
Not true mate Barrera is a shot fighter, he would have been stopped anyway. I have watched his last 5 fights and he is not the fighter he was. Give Khan his dues he totally out fought Barrera
RE: Not true mate Khan was the quicker man, but Barrera hit him twice and Khan's knees wobbled. If you get into the later stages and Khan starts getting flat footed through fatigue, then you're watching a totally different fight. Barrera was never troubled with Khan's punches. Just a shame that the cut happened. One thing it does prove though - Khan certainly likes to fight shorter men with shorter arms.
So you think he should be fighting Orangutangs ? Give Khan some credit, Barrera was supposed to kick his ass according to plenty on here. He hardly laid a glove on Khan and Barrera would have slowed too, a lot quicker than Khan who is 13 andhalf years younger. Khan could not lose tonight, too big and fast.
RE: So you think he should be fighting Orangutangs ? I think if it went into the later rounds, and they were flat footed with each other, there was a very substantial chance of Amir Khan getting his chin tested. I was also getting the impression that Khan with his hands in the air show boating was likely to get cocky and get caught. With Khan, one decent shot changes the fight, and for all the combinations he threw at Barrera in flurries, he never hurt him. Even for his age, and the decline in his speed and skills, Barrera has a great chin, the heart of a lion, and he would have still been in there when Amir Khan was getting tired. Barrera was catching most of Khan's shots on the gloves, or rolling with the blows. I didn't see enough to make me believe that Barrera was in genuine trouble. Joe Fraiser looked very much like Barrera tonight in the early round of all three fights against Ali - but look how they ended - very very close, and Ali got beaten up. Khan is, at the end of the day, with a manager who will now avoid (like the plague) a puncher who is as tall and as rangey as Khan is (unless their about 40 years old). We are destined to forever see Khan towering over his opponents and moving in and out with his gloves over his face. I don't think he achieved anything tonight. It was all about the cut.
