    I’m not sure if any ex red has played in La Liga never mind won it. I’m not sure if Diego Leon made an appearance in there? Other than that I’m struggling.

    probably should have said spanish champions, like the premier league there was top flight football before la liga
    may have been someone who escaped the civil war and ended up at barnsley main ;-)

    Did anyone think he was this good when he played for us?

    I liked him. But I thought he'd end up in a team that would be yoyoing between Championship and Premier League. I thought he'd be in Watford's team or Sheff Utd's. I did not see a right back who was going to win the league title in one of the top leagues in Europe. And if I'm honest, not even close.

    I certainly rated him Jay. Did I think he'd reach the heights that he has. Probably not.
    Always had a soft spot for tarn I believe. Acknowledging our fans when he's played against us..
    Just looked at his stats and I'm shocked tbh that he only played 69 games for spurs over 4 yrs. 2015-19

    guessing pirri was the only other 1 then, from same team too albeit only 2 games for us and vanished after eating yorkshire puddings ;-)

    I thought he was superb. Every bit as brilliant as John Curtis was for us and bags more potential. Knew Burnley had signed a good 'un at the time, but have to admit Champions League with Spurs, World Cups for England, and league titles in Spain isn't something I would have predicted.

    I didn't realise at the time he was a La Liga Championship winner.

    Someone with a better memory than me might remember more about his debut against Tranmere, but I remember him being really tidy on the ball with the mobility and pace of Lee Crooks. I do remember him pinging one towards the top corner though?

    Can't believe that was 21 years ago.
