Well done to him. He's clearly a good manager at that level. He's done it before and he's doing it again. It's a pity for everyone concerned, him and our football club, that he couldn't transfer those skills to The Championship. Maybe he will in the future. Most people who have a lot of success have tasted some failure.

So he's given up with the centre halves passing ot between them till they lose it and concede?

If you asked every Barnsley fan to give 1 word to describe what they thought of keith hill, legend would be very low down

I think Hill will have taken a lot from his experience with us and could still become a good manager at this level.

Until he had his team ripped apart that fateful January, he was a decent manager at this level.

I'm not sure I get the idea that there is a level. Ok maybe there is at the top when you have the 24/7 media scrutiny, european competition, players on £250k per week. But not between Championship and League One or Two. The media scrutiny is the same, the internet message boards, and its still a game of 11 v 11. To me there isn't a lot between most managers. Their success or failure is usually down to things being right off the pitch and behind the scenes at the club, and the budget they have to work with.

I agree. He wasn't far off getting is right for us. However in the end he dug himself a hole too deep to climb out of.

Of course there is a level, better managers end up in higher divisions like players do. Championship managers are more tactically aware than in League Two and know how to deal with teams better hence why he got found out in the Championship very early on.

After the defeat at home to Middlesbrough

Halfway through August, we didn't lose again until the televised game at Portsmouth, two months later.

Do you think? Or is it because invariably it's the 'poorer' Championship teams that promote from the lower leagues so it's deemed they're poorer managers because they've got fewer resources?

I can't remember the last time a 'top' Championship club (Hull last year got Bruce, Cardiff took McKay from Watford and Palace nicked Holloway) promoted someone from L1 or L2 can you?
