In this particular one, he makes some cracking points on how ***** England are at football, and how the development leagues (u21's) are a waste of time as it's kids vs kids, unlike the old format where kids played against men. And from about 16 minutes and 50 seconds in, he discusses the League Cup format, and talks about us and the game at Spotland last August. He's back to the Keith that I fell in love with... Replacement for Flicker when he leaves for the Premier League. http://www.player.rochdaleafc.co.uk...e/0/name/Dale-Player:-Latest-From-The-Manager
The bring back Keef campaign starts here! A few years older and with more life experience... how can he fail second time around.
Maybe he should watch concentrate on Rochdale and not everything else. Do Rochdale even play u21 Football???
So you disagree with him, then? Because I remember him saying last Summer that John Stones needed first team football because the u21's is a poor standard and that he had to play against men. The same Stones who then played against men and moved to the Prem for £3m. And I can tell you from the mouth of a certain ex BFC midfield maestro, the u21's or academy games are pointless and players don't start learning real things until they play regular first team football. And the evidence backs that up, too. Because he moved to the Prem after a run of first team games. And, Phil, be fair for once... aren't you always saying these kids need to be getting first team games? Sure you keep saying that about Digby...? I await your response with a smile on my ugly face.
I'm not saying the u21's are perfect but theres good things and bad things about it. That's above not true. Barnsley u21's played against Tyson and Robinson when they played derby. Fuctas Schlupp Waghorn Logan also played against them in a game. u21's over the old reserve team league that barnsley were in a couple of years ago. Now that was Kids vs Kids and not of similar level. Rotherham, York.... Jones RNL (saying that he looked good for first team and at times bad for reserves) rose all benefited from u21 football and didn't look too bad at first team level.
I said men. I'd class most of them as kids, still. They're hardly journeyed pro's are they are? And that was Keith's (great) point - when he was playing reserve football as a kid, he was up against experienced blokes, veterans, and got the **** kicked out of him. He also learned a lot playing alongside other veterans. Which is why he's saying (and he's correct IMO) the kids are thrown into the deep end of first team football these days (often too soon) because the u21's are full of kids and they learn nothing about the game that they haven't already picked up through years of academy games. I'll trust Keith and ex players and go with their opinion on this one.
So Fuctas and Whitbread aren't men? u18 level doesn't mean your small. There's some big guys in there.
You're totally missing the point that Keith was making, and the reason I started this thread, and so with that..............
Sorry mate, they have never been quality and never will be quality. He talks a load of ballox and if he told me tomorrow was Tuesday I would check the fecking calendar!
16 mins and 50 secs in? He does like to talk, normally ******** though. Agree about reserve footy but it had started to lose it's edge anyway. It used to be really competitive, star players coming back from injury, 1st teamers who need some game time.
