There have been many rulers of Jerusalem who were idiots. Pagan, Muslim, Jewish and Christian alike.

There were also rulers on both sides who tolerated other faiths and the city flourished. When the Islamic Caphiliate ruled after the end of the Roman rule of the city they actually removed the rule of not allowing Jews into the city for the first time in several hundred years.

The allusion to America was simply to draw the comparoison that european and /or Christian based anglo saxon imperialism was fundamentaly different in character to the earlier empires, which may have exhibited elements of cruelty were not based on race and ethnicity and the 'superiority of one race over another, leading to a distorted view of darwinism as an excuse for mass murder/ethnic cleansing.

Our view of muslims as intolerant, murdering fanatics is therefore fundamentally wrong, but serves a purpose in the political psyche that needs to be created to enable invasion and subjugation to take place.

If your point is that the Jewish people have been treated horrifically, I won't disagree with you, but to single out just the Muslims is one-dimensional considering many countries have had a go at occupying the city and surrounding land. This includes the British, who only left after the uprising of the Irgun, who the UK government once classed as a terrorist regime and whose leader went on to found the Zionist state that is Israel.
