what is the point of having it if this loan fiasco is the way forward for BFC.

In fairness Hill has given more young players a chance than any of the previous managers in recent times. The time to introduce young players is in to a team that are doing well, not one that is struggling and low on confidence. personally I really am not a fan of the loan system at all but how many fit permenant first teamers do we have? If you simply plug that gap with academy lads in a struggling team every week you could damage their confidence and potentially harm their development.

I've been dleighted at the progress of young players this year and for the first time in a long while am confident of them making the transition to first team

    Is Nouble really any better?
Why have Michael Tonge when he cannot even start a game?

I would at least have Digby and Rose in our squad.

I agree completely. I can't understand the Nouble signing and can only presume Tonge isn't fit. That was always going to be a bit of a gamble given how little he has played of late, but in fairness to Hill his last big gamble in Vaz Te paid off big time.

I'd also add that another loan signing doesn't necessarily harm a young players chance of being in the squad. We can only have 5 players so the it is one of the loanees who will lose out. Although if one of the loan players is not working out I don't understand why we don't send them back.

We'll see more of both of those this season, hopefully alongside experienced players in a team that is playing well

The "famous five" from the academy will be ready next season, maybe season after, have a bit of faith. I'm excited at the prospect of these coming through, the academy teams seem to be doing really well at the moment lets hope they continue onto the first teams.

    Why do you think that?

Don't you think Robins was bringing a lot of youth through like Jordan Clark, Alastair Taylor, Danny Rose and Noble Lazarus all of whom were included in the match day 16 far more often than Hill has had them in there. And don't forget they're all a year older this season, so you would expect to see more of them, not less. That's not to say Hill isn't working with youth players either, he is, but I wouldn't say any more so.

Do you think you, and many others, are in danger of falling over yourself to praise everything Keith Hill does while dismissing out of hand what went on before. Because it certainly seems that way to me.

Re: Why do you think that?

I'm guessing that was in response to me? Hard to tell in linear mode.

I would say that when players have been used this year it has been in a more integral role to the team but am in no way criticising Robins. I think its fair to say that I've been criticised for being too 'pro' every manager we have had since I joined this forum. I think to a certain extent all the last three managers we have had have been successful. I think the time was right when Davey went but that his achievements were not recognised, I thought Robins did a very good job and was lloking forward to another season under him. I will give Hill more time than anyone on the basis that he is committed to short passing football which is how I believe you build long term success.

I posted the other night to say that my biggest issue with this board is that the ridiculous criticism leads rational people to overstate Hill's case and there ends up no middle ground or room for reasoned debate about the many things Hill has got wrong. The exact same happened with Davey and the polarisation is not a good thing.

If it has ever come across that I am dismissve of Robins I can only apologise. I was gutted when he went, thought it was handled appallingly by the club, but he has gone and Hill has my full support. I am conscious I defend him too much but I get goaded in to it by people making stupid comments that he should be sacked.

    Hmmmm

I feel a bit of a lovely person now. You're clearly one of the most rational, level headed and down right nice people who post on here so I'm sorry for having a little go. Totally uncalled for.

I agree with everything you say, my only excuse is that I can be like that sometimes. Which isn't an excuse at all really. I really should work on it.

Carry on as you were, I do enjoy reading your posts.
