Would USA to beat Belgium be an upset?

Would be but they won't; I read it in the Mirror.

LOL ... Danny Mills was co-commentator on USA/Germany 5Live game this aft.... confidently predicting all the big gun names in the last 8 .... think he'd been reading the Mirror ... his pre WC form was not very promising LOL

Danny Mills: If England can get out of their group then the last 16, where they are likely to face Colombia or Ivory Coast from Group C, does not look too bad. After that, it gets difficult and we are thrown in with the big boys - possibly Brazil, Netherlands, Spain or even Chile in the last eight.

Making the quarter-finals would be successful, to go beyond that would be an outside bet to say the least.

    Think Chile might upset Brazil
and wouldn't rule out USA beating Belgium

I don't think so at all. Belgium have been distinctively average despite winning all 3 games. 3 of their 4 goals have come from the subs bench in the final 3rd of the match. The other 2 weak groups were Colombia's and France's, but at least they both came through it fairly convincingly.

As for the USA, they've undoubtedly gone through the hardest group. I think Klinsmann was wise to play a very defensive style against Germany, and although they got beat, they're deserving in a 2nd round place for me. I think they'll go for it more against Belgium and I think they could easily be a couple of goals up before Belgium step there game up. I reckon the only hint of a shock in this round could come from Chile, Brazil haven't been the steam roller many expected, and Chile have nothing to lose.

Edit: I meant Chile not Costa Rica

I favour USA to beat Belgium, they're the only team that finished 2nd who I'd expect to make the quarters.

The Mexican's will give the Dutch a tough game as will Chile with Brazil but I'd expect the favourites to come through.

The only other possible upset I could see is Argentina been upset by Switzerland, they've looked dreadful at the back & will need Messi to keep pulling them through.

Should be comfortable wins for Colombia (Uruguay missing Suarez), Costa Rica, France & Germany.

We could easily have semi finals of Brazil - Holland & France / Germany - Argentina with how the draws working out. They'd be quality

I Think Greece might just sneak past Costa Rica. USA will fancy themselves but Belgium seem to have the knack of grinding out results. Argentina should progress despite their dodgy defence, Messi v Senderos/Djourou should be fun! Brazil will get through one way or another, can't imagine FIFA not having them get to at least the semi's just to prevent any uprising

Still think Argentina will the whole thing though

Oh, and i really like the new kit. But i've liked the last 4 or 5 to be fair

No we couldn't, not sure if you have the same TV guide as me that got it wrong - but Germany and Brazil are in the same half of the draw, as are Argentina and Holland.

Same thing like but semis are set up as
Brazil v Germany and Argentina v Holland

Ah right. Cheers. Can't remember where I'd seen / heard that or if I just got it mixed up. 2 crackers either way.

Can't see many teams potentially stopping that from happening. Possibly Colombia

S'ok - I thought it strange looking at my TV guide and they had teams that qualified from same group potentially meeting again in the quarter finals! Thought that was wrong as, apart from 2002 when they wanted to keep South Korea and Japan playing in their own country - they usually split so teams can't meet again until the final.

Don't want to put too much of a dampner on things, but I suspect most of the knock out games will be cagey/cautious, with the emphasis on not conceding.
    Hey thats Greece anyway
