Agent ups ante in race to net Koumas <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%" border="0"><tbody></tbody></table><table class="headerTable" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"><tbody><tr><td><p class="headtypea">Jun 27 2006 </p></td></tr><tr><td><p class="headtypea"><b /></p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="2"><p class="headtypeb">Steve Tucker, Western Mail</p></td></tr></td /></tr /></tbody></table><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="400" border="0"><tbody><tr><td colspan="3"> </td></tr><tr><td colspan="3"><p class="headtypea">EVEN if Cardiff City agree a fee to bring Wales international Jason Koumas to Ninian Park, they could then find themselves in a bidding war with other clubs, the player's agent has confirmed.</p><p class="headtypea">Koumas spent a season-long loan at Cardiff from West Brom, making a big impact and becoming Bluebirds' manager Dave Jones' No 1 summer transfer target.</p><p class="headtypea">After a falling out with Albion manager Bryan Robson, Koumas is sure to leave The Hawthorns soon, with Cardiff his most likely destination.</p><p class="headtypea">But a fee for the 26-year-old is proving the stumbling block between the two clubs, with West Brom wanting close to £2m and the Bluebirds reluctant to go above £1.5m.</p><p class="headtypea">But Koumas' agent Peter McIntosh believes even once a valuation for the player is fixed, Cardiff could find themselves in competition for the player's services.</p> <p class="mpuadcontinue2">"The question in the end is, is Jason Koumas a good footballer? And the answer is, yes," said McIntosh. "I don't know why no deal has been made between West Brom and Cardiff or anyone else, but until that happens we're snookered. We can't talk to anyone and Jason remains a West Brom player.</p> <p class="headtypea">"I think that if, say, Cardiff have an offer of £1m accepted, that's bound to alert other clubs who may have been waiting in the shadows - £2m might put other people off but, as I say, our hands are tied at the moment.</p> <p class="headtypea">"Most certainly no personal terms have been finalised with Cardiff or anyone else, although we don't really see why Jason should be thinking of accepting a pay cut to play for anyone."</p></td></tr></tbody></table>
