That said, we deserved a point tonight, the back 4, Moore &amp; Foster esp were outstanding, and Macken played with guile - just wish we enabled him to do it in the opposition's penalty area. we aren't a million miles away from beinga top Championship side.</p>

Think we need to be more positive and cant imagine why Hammill or Boggy did not get a start tonight. The system Davey adopts has worked eg at Derby and washday but generally relies entirely on keeping a clean sheet.

Front to back a far improved performance from saturday - SM said that formation is more suited to away games and I think he's right.</p>

Mifsud showed more interest and got himself into a couple of shooting positions. apparently Hammil only trained the last 2 days - I'd swap JCR for him on Saturday if we go with the same performance. Boggy needs a start, seems full of confidence.</p>

We can't expect to defend for 90mins, but you can't just stop playing when they're in a goal scoring position, just because you think you've been fouled. Gifted them the second imo. And was always going to gift them something, either in the way he did or getting sent off. Liability in a game like today.

Problem is we're a lot nearer being an average League 1 side. We have some good players I grant you, but our efforts in the final third are why we are where we are. The negativity of our beloved manager has a lot to do with that.
Looking at the remaining games I just do not see where the five or six points (could be more) needed are going to come from.

 

This appears to be the problem. Whether its the players or Davey, we seem to sit deeper....

and deeeeper.

We were playing away from home against 3rd in the league. They'd won 6 on the bounce or something stupid. We contained them in the first half and stood up to everything they threw at us but to expect them to not boss the play for a considerable period in the game is stupid.

I don't think Davey did anything wrong. At all.

 

Their previous form..

is of course important in the run up to the game and in preparation for it. But when on the evidence in front of you they only have one tatctic, that is to play a long diagonal ball at any given opportunity, we could have won the game with a little more belief in our players.

What matters is what ends up being in front of you not what they have done for the last nine matches as it is largely irrelevant.
