Looks absolutely brutal, can't see anywhere near 90+ pts like previous 2 seasons Top 10 candidates (not in order) Wigan Charlton Birmingham Huddersfield Rotherham Peterborough Blackpool Bolton/Oxford Lincoln Leyton Orient Wrexham Wycombe Reading (subject to embargoes) We really need to get our ***t together recruitment wise biggest challenge yet no leftovers of the championship relegation team to fall back on now. 3rd season in for the board honeymoon period over, flatman and Mladen have had their settling period, its time to deliver or we are in for a rough one.
Stevenage worth a mention too. Did well in their first season at this level and just run out of steam. A few tweaks of the squad and they could be up there again with their experience of last season.
Think the loss of Evans will be key, wouldn't be surprised to see Jamie Reid go either nonetheless good side as you say
Will still be half the league expecting a genuine tilt at promotion. 3 from 13/14 teams is going to be tough. A few will underachieve but then a few we haven't mentioned might be up there.
Strong league on paper. Difficult to get out of and most likely a sign of seasons to come as more clubs come bouncing down after having their wings burned, and some would do it all again if they could get an owner with deep enough pockets. Having said that, many expected the Duff season to be a ‘season of consolidation’ and following defeat at Wembley and losing Duff and defence last season was to be , ‘mid table at best’, so who knows what’s possible this time round?
This could be a Danny Wilson type ('14) season in Lg One, where the Play offs were way beyond us, and that means only top half at best. But hey we should at least be comfortable in this Lg for the next twelve years or more though. And we shouldn't be worrying about Lg Two, thankfully, err maybe!!.
If we're not the still unappointed head coach will be out the door by crimbo choose who it is.. put money on that
Will be such a difficult league to get anywhere near the top. Before getting to Lincoln on that list, any of them could win it. Do fancy Charlton or Birmingham though. Unless we appoint somebody very good, we won’t be anywhere near. Then again, I did think that when we appointed Duff though and we finished 12 places higher then I predicted.
I’d put Stockport in the list of play off contenders. They’re on a roll & their average crowds are over 9,000. I bet their budget won’t be far off ours.
I did wonder about Stockport, being totally honest didn't know enough about their squad and spending power at this level and whether they'd plato?
I’m no expert about their squad but they’ve finished above Wrexham and have similar crowds than many of the teams listed as promotion contenders on the first post. There’s only really Huddersfield, Birmingham & potentially Bolton that will have substantially more income than them from tickets sold.
It's a false prediction really, I mean, all those clubs will sell their best players and replace them with cheaper, less skilled ones,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, won't they??
It's going to be interesting. Probably the most competitive it's been for a good few seasons. Some cracking fixtures, if we can assemble a squad & get a decent manager in I'd expect us to be in the mix, but top 2 will be a big ask.
