You mean they bottled it so much that they volunteered to take a penalty in the first place?

I don't like England at all. You can't criticise those two, though. Anyone can miss a penalty.

    Not just the penalties.

    Hid for 120 minutes.

Where was Gerrard when we were under the cosh? Out in the car park nicking f*ckin hub caps?

And don't try telling me Portugal were any better. Cheating diving playacting tw*ts.

If that's how the game's going sod it.

Lampard and Gerrard weren't very good indeed, but if you want to blame someone, I think it should be Rooney...
Beckham? It wasn't his fault that he got injured, and even if he wasn't as good as Lennon, I don't think he was that bad either.

    Give it up will ya?

It was not deliberate. He came down on the lad. I notice you say nothing about Ronaldo spitting at him, or that FACT that Figo should not have been playing

Perhaps England just have to learn to play that way?

Argentina, Holland and Portugal have been absolutely great at diving around, getting players booked and generally cheating their way through matches.

In not matching this cynicism, England are denying themselves equality. This ain't the 1890s - practice the dark arts or be at a disadvantage.

We only started playing when Beckham departed - we were getting round the back of them, and corners were going into the box for the first time in the tournament.

    Beckham is a spent force.

And Rooney was off balance and putting his foot to the floor - nothing more than that.

Underperformed and the whole system thatSven had was to accommodate both of them.

I think Rooney was sent off for pushing Ronaldo

Huh? You can't know for sure if it was deliberate or not... Ronaldo was just there whining and spreading his arms as usual, but he still didn't force Rooney to push him. Yes, he's an annoying tw*t, but I'm not the only one who thinks the sending off was for the kick, and not for that push on Ronaldo.

    NO WE flipping DON'T.

So the rest of the world cheats and that makes them right and us wrong?

Never, never, never - they've not been "absolutely great" they've been f*ckin CHEATING.

If you condone that you're as bad as them.

I've seen it again, now I've settled a bit...

and I still think there was no intent in it.

Its a sign of the times that these players are classed as such heroes. There's a saying cometh the hour cometh the man. Do you honestly think that Shearer or Lineker would have bottled it in such fashion ?

The best change in the England team would be to play one or t'other, alongside Carrick or Hargreaves, depending on the situation. We just need a clear balance in the team. No ambiguity about tactics.

Then when we lose we can just blame the quality of the players and not the system.

I'm almost certain the sending off was for the stamp

I don't think Rooney meant to stamp on him, but that's what the sending off was for.

As far as Ronaldo goes I can't understand all the fuss on here. He acted like almost every other footballer acts, including English players. Not particularly brilliant behaviour but nowt out of the ordinary.

At least when we were down to 10 men we saw a decent game and a bit of passion for once. Something that has been missing from this whole world cup.

For me England were a very average team in a very poor tournament. It's been dull to watch. Not that England have been any worse than many of the teams but they certainly have been dull.
