Can anyone help me with a wireless connection problem with my laptop. Since my other half downlaoded somehthing called Zune last night my laptop is using a different IP address to previously and I cannot view Web pages (the IP address starts 169). My service provider, Orange went through several tests and in the end decided it was a microsoft problem. I have another desktop PC in the house that can see the and connect to my Orange Livebox AND view web pages. Microsoft however have said its an Orange problem. I deleted the offending software but still no luck, still I get the wrong IP address. I have a bridged connection to my Xbox from the laptop but of course that has now no IP address. Sorry if I haven't explained myself very well but I am not very computer literate.
    Cheers in advance

I take it the "livebox" is your wirelss router?

What is the IP address of the other pc on your network (the one that is working)? Normally, home network IP adresses start 192.

Is the XBOX connected to the router or to your Laptop?

Yes the livebox is my wireless router and the other IP address does start 192 I belive (I am at work at the moment so cant check)
My Xbox is connected via my laptop and an ethernet cable and has been working fine until this morning, and like I said that was only after this Zune prgramme was installed. I can get a wired connection direct thru my router.

Goto start > run and type in cmd

then in the dos window type in ipconfig /renew

that might force the laptop to pick up an IP address if its connected to the router.
