We're using a VGA cable to get the picture from laptop to HD TV e.e. play YouTube on biiger screen. That works and we get a great picture. We soon realised we needed something else to get sound on too. I went online and some places said get a phone jack (the one with red and white male pin on one end and black male pin to put in laptop headphone socket). So I did. The sound doesn't play through the laptop when we put in the black pin into the headphone socket as you would expect, but the sound doesn't come through on the TV at the other end. Any advice please? Tried to luck online but its a bit techy for me. We have checked all the usual mute buttons, laptop and TV sound settings but nothing. TIA
Sounds like you connected to the output sockets on your TV - There should be some audio input sockets in the same area where you've connected the VGA cable to. What make/models your TV? It's more common to have a VGA audio input to be the small jack plug type, simular to the one you've connected to your PC.
TV is Samsung, model not sure. There are 3 different places where you can plug in the white and red leads into next to each other. All have been tried. I'll pass your response to the missus who knows more abotu comps that me. Thanks.
