Looking for a new laptop as cheap as possible, £250-£300 would be ideal. Any decent ones out there? Which brands are the best? Had a HP for last 3 years and it's been decent.

    Thanks.

Depends on what you're going to do with your laptop. Play games, write stuff, post on this BBS, watch/edit movies, etc etc...?

If you're planning to use it mostly at home (in place of a desktop computer), you'll probably want something with a large enough screen and a decent keyboard. If you want to carry it around wherever you go, then you'll probably want something a bit smaller... If you're into gaming or edit a lot of videos you need a faster (ie. more expensive) laptop, but if you only use your laptop for browsing the internet and posting on this BBS, then just about any model out there should be good enough for that.

Well, this probably wasn't helpful at all.

Just bought one from Tesco. £250 and on offer. Packard Bell and setting it up it seems all good to me.

Just the same as usual the Barry, not got anything to say that is of any use, so you just denigrate what anyone else says. Great advice that is !!

That doesn't meet the "as cheap as possible" criteria.

Depends how you look at it. They last forever if you look after them. Plus with new models out now a second hand MacBook beats a brand new PC all year long.
