Looking for a new laptop as cheap as possible, £250-£300 would be ideal. Any decent ones out there? Which brands are the best? Had a HP for last 3 years and it's been decent. Thanks.
Depends on what you're going to do with your laptop. Play games, write stuff, post on this BBS, watch/edit movies, etc etc...? If you're planning to use it mostly at home (in place of a desktop computer), you'll probably want something with a large enough screen and a decent keyboard. If you want to carry it around wherever you go, then you'll probably want something a bit smaller... If you're into gaming or edit a lot of videos you need a faster (ie. more expensive) laptop, but if you only use your laptop for browsing the internet and posting on this BBS, then just about any model out there should be good enough for that. Well, this probably wasn't helpful at all.
Dell are a decent make but if you want to push your budget a little this looks a cracker - great spec for the price http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/acer-aspire-v3-571-laptop-15254170-pdt.html
check out www.ebuyer.com - some really good offers on there and i've always had a good experience with them.
Just bought one from Tesco. £250 and on offer. Packard Bell and setting it up it seems all good to me.
Re: it was all going so well ..until it said Toshiba Just the same as usual the Barry, not got anything to say that is of any use, so you just denigrate what anyone else says. Great advice that is !!
Re: it was all going so well ..until it said Toshiba That doesn't meet the "as cheap as possible" criteria.
Re: it was all going so well ..until it said Toshiba Depends how you look at it. They last forever if you look after them. Plus with new models out now a second hand MacBook beats a brand new PC all year long.
