This might sound a bit daft but I've never been, always imagined it to be a bit of a monstrosity. Is all the gambling stuff in your face all the time in the hotels or is it possible to completely avoid it? (The Luxor in particular.)
Thanks.

There are slots in the arrivals area at the airport, even before you get your bags.
Its pretty easy to avoid if you dont want to gamble, I hardly gambled at all when I went.
There are lots of quality Restaurants and bars in the hotelsaround where Luxor is.
They ID everyone so dont forget your driving license or passport when you go out.

During the day, you can get trips to the grand canyon, plane or helicopter. Also a Wet n Wild (Water Park) on the strip just down from Circus Circus, Some hotels have outside shows to tempt you to go in which are quite good, Pirate ship at tropicana (not sure if i've got right hotel), spectacular fountain show at Bellagio (watch end of Oceans 11), Circus show within Circus Circus hotel, Roller coaster around New York and lions to look at in the Mgm, At night its an experience just to walk down the strip, thats if you can stand the 90 Degrees heat even at midnight!
It's difficult to avoid as its usually the first thing you see when entering any of the hotels but there's plenty to do in Vegas without doing any gambling. I'm off over for the Hatton fight in a few weeks time.
We drove through Las Vegas on the Freeway last summer. The mini Vegases started at the border with California but we knew when we were approaching the daddy because of the blue polution haze that appeared in the sky in front of us. It was 105 degrees on the car temperature guage as we passed through - that was mid June. We stayed in St George, Utah. It was 105 degrees there too.
Gambling is in your face Don. But so much more going on......fantastic bars...clubs...restaurants....swimming pool areas. Have you booked in at the Luxor?
Our young'un went mate. Says you've seen everything in the first two days and all that's left to do is gamble or drink, both of which are totally in your face.
Spent 4 nights in Vegas Didn't once play on the slot machines !!!!!! Just sat at all the main bars drinking and just people watched Absolutly fantastic place. But keep in the area of the main hotels and strip. All you can eat for about 10 dollars. Those that were gambelng, if they were sensible, were going out with $50 having a meal having a load to drink and coming back with $50. Win rate on the slots is brilliant
It is the most FABULOUS city in the world. It's nothing like as tacky as you imagine - Blackpool is 100x worse!! There's loads to do without gambling, there's plenty of stuff to keep you occupied. The Luxor is absolutely amazing, as well... possibly the best hotel I've ever stayed in <333 I want to go again, now!! lol
I'm heading there on 1st November for my 5th trip in 3 years. Absolutely love the place. I go there to play poker, but my wife goes there for the shopping and doesn't gamble much. Its hard to avoid the casino areas as every hotel is designed so that you have to walk through them to get anywhere, but its easy not to play if you don't want to. Loads to do there outside of gambling and some of the most awesome scenery surrounding you. We did a 45 minute car journey in March and went from 85 degrees on the Strip to the ski-resort on Mt Charleston, which was still open. Grand Canyon helicopter trip is incredible. A tad expensive but worth it for the 'once in a lifetime' experience (which was so good I did it twice!) Any questions, PM me.
