Is it just me or does Sterling look half the player he was last season... Mostly seems to run into trouble and just when ya think he's going to blow the defender away down the line he turns inside and plays a square ball.. Also thought Shaw looks better at left back...
Thought he was excellent first half last night. Didn't watch the other games. It was my first proper look at Foden and Mount and I was very impressed with both.
I think Kane drops back into midfield too much and gets in his way. I used to think he was just crap but they should build an attack round him or Kane or play Stirling as a winger. Kane shouldn't be the 1st name on the team sheet anymore. It's captain syndrome.
Thought Mount in particular was very impressive. For me Sterling started out really well, but second half drifted away to the extent I would have subbed him. Still think the penalty was dubious but couldn't be bothered to watch the half time drivel to see the so mo and 'expert' opinion
England are not in great form and Sterling sort of typifies that. Gives the ball up quite a bit lately, but still carries a threat. Unlike some on this board, I've enjoyed watching the national side over recent years, but the past three games have been a bit of a chore. We do miss Rashford providing width and pace one side with Sterling on the other. I think because too much of our play is getting bogged down Kane feels he needs to go back and sort it out. But as others have said that is leaving us short up front. Also Foden is a cracking player, but not a winger. We just to find more space to play and pick up the tempo. I'd also like to see Jordan Henderson back, probably playing with Mount. Having said that Philipps and Rice have done ok. As for the keeper - Pope really is an accident waiting to happen. It was Stones' error that led to the goal, but the keeper's awful pass to him causing him to back track contributed. With a ball at his feet he's pretty hopeless.
I agree, tbf at Man City he's surrounded by quality, in a white shirt he's surrounded by not as much quality
The Harry Kane that has 34 England Goals in 53 games and is often described as one of the worlds best strikers. That Harry Kane?
Totally disagree. England has some very good players. You really can't compare a club side with a national one. Former has months and even years to perfect a style.
And you can mate, I would say having good players is different from having good players who don't bring their individual club ability to the national side, I'm not necessarily comparing a club to a country side I'm saying as a national side we really aren't that good and our players who are good for their clubs is because they play alongside better players ( imo),
Thought Sterling was excellent last night particularly first half. I was very underwhelmed by Foden. Chose the wrong option constantly and free kicks were awful.
