And my first post on this new site. We might get a few sendings off from full backs. Williams, Austin and Tonge all look handy with the challenges. Not complaining though, I wish some others would get stuck in as well. I thought we defended well from the front. We were always tracking the free players, and forcing them deep. They were passing about on the edge of their own area, and we kept forcing them back all match. We kept going till the end, and looked a lot fitter than last year. Hayes does a lot of chasing, perhaps he will make up for some of Nardiellos running when they have the ball. He has a good touch, and should get quite a few goals. Although I am not convinced about him in the air, he doesnt look as good with high balls as I expected for a big man. I read the other reports about Kay, and everybody seemed impressed. He looked solid enough, and did make some good passes, but he always seems to look for the long ball out wide. Sometimes he should keep it a bit more simple. Shuker was relatively quiet, and many of his early crosses didnt beat the first man. I heard that in some of the previous pre-season games, the pitches were narrower, and we played more down the middle. Perhaps, he was adjusting to the wider pitch. Anyway, thats me being super critical. I though we played really well, 100% better than last season. We look solid, chase well, and everybody seems to know what they are doing. We have support going forward, and I am now getting excited, and even optimistic for the new season. Lets see how we go on saturday, and then when the real stuff starts. MOTM Williams, lets hope he keeps this form up. Solid in defence, not an out and out winger, but got a few crosses in. And 4 goals in 4 games, I hope that even if he moves to full back, he gets chance to get forward again. Player of the season and top scorer for him? You reds.....
