Ok i was lucky enough to get a ticket for the return to Oakwell and many were'nt as they have posted ( some with vitriol) but to be honest it just didnt feel right, it wasnt the matchday experience that i look forward to and truly enjoy, it just wasnt the same, porkpie outside the ground and chatting to fellow reds, (yeah ok i had a natter with springvale red and paul while waiting to get in) getting into the ground and chewing the fat with biglil and barnsley66 and most of all my own seat that i've sat in for 20+ years, the little family of stroppy argumentative fans around me that over the years i've started to grudgingly admire, was it good to be back ? yes, but to be fair it may just as well been frickley or wosborough bridge, it just didnt feel the same, but there again the worlds a vastly different place to what it was 14 months ago
I admire your sentiment jedi, but I would have loved to been there last night. It's the first time in nearly 30 years that I haven't been to Oakwell and it just felt weird. The ironic thing is that I've lived and worked all over the country (well Birmingham and Reading) over those 30 years and always got to a Home game. Now I've retired and I live within 20 minutes walk of Oakwell and I haven't gone for 14 months. Irony indeed
I was very thankful to be at the game last night. It was a great experience to see a game live again. There was something special about it being the very first game back. Admittedly it didn't feel quite the same, I agree, but hopefully normality is only just over the horizon now.
I wasn't there but I couldn't be arsed to down the bottles like usual. I had a weird feeling yesterday. It was as if I knew we'd get beat.
it was a very different experience for me. granted, none of the usual rituals were there. but equally I can personally say I've never been at a match like it. I include other play offs and finals in that. just the circumstances surrounding it all. totally unique. doubt (hope) we will see again in our lifetimes, football impacted how it has been, and I feel very privileged to have been part of it last night. I wasn't underwhelmed at all. in some ways I was probably the most overwhelmed I've ever felt.
these two bouncers And one of 'em's alright, the other one's the scary one His way or no way, totalitarian He's got no time for your looking or breathing
Went tut mount. outside. 5pm. 12 on us. (Regulars int mount). Was in ground an hr early. ( instead of 2/3 minutes ) Could hear the crowd even then in the upper tier concourse. Took our places. Watching lads warming up receiving rapturous applause. Same again when teams came out. Ovation for Val. Brilliant entrance music making my hairs stand on end. Great atmosphere throughout most of the game. Phoning other members of the group. Locating their positions. (Normally all together. East lower) only thing that was disappointing. ( except the couple seconds the morons piped up) Was the result. But it’s only half time. I Wish all could have been there. Yoooooooo reddddddds As someone else posted. A big up to the stewards. Who controlled in a decent manner.(speaking for those In the upper tier)
