Caveats- more than happy with how things are going this season and I'll take the odd blip along the way. Having said that, Larkeche apart, anyone else worried about the other new signings:

Edwards- long throw apart not seen much and hopelessly out of position for the second goal today

Philips- looks slow and ponderous. 1st thought always to pass backwards

Martin- nippy enough but not a lot of end product. Already in debit column for the error v Vale

Appreciate its early days but they dont strengthen the team a lot from the bench. Hope they all get 90 mins on Tuesday. Going to need more from them in the next few months.....

Need more game time to assess them properly but need one of them to step up after Thomas injury - front three aren't as mobile without him

Phillips has plenty of game time in league one, plenty of goals too, I think he'll definitely come good eventually. Has a good physical presence too. Not impressed with Martin really, he runs with the ball alot, but usually back wards or holds on to it too long, and as you say, error against Port Vale for not doing his defensive work. Still early days though. Thought Edwards did alright on the left the other week.

For all the effect that Martin and Philips have had on games they have participated in, they may as well have been sat at the side of me.

Edwards and Larkeche I have higher hopes for.

So far every single one of them has utter dross.

Hopefully that's because they've only been training with us for just over a month and they'll get better but so far I'd say there's a lack of skill, and dare I say it, a lack of effort too.

Then again the same could be said about almost all of the summer signings sadly. Hopefully they all just need time to settle in and it will come good for them because far too many times we've been let down by a good first 11 but a squad who don't do their bit.

    First parts a bit harsh!

though like you say hopefully it will just take a bit of bedding in.

I’m sure some will be good and some won’t. But let’s give them time before making rash judgements.

Really? Seems a bit dramatic to say all of our summer signings have been poor in my opinion.

I’d say the judgement is still out there on all our summer signings. We have had glimpses from some of them but little consistency. It’s unfair to judge now so let’s see how they’ve done by March / April. The only one I’ve been consistently impressed with is Connell.

Only thing for me is that none of them seem to offer anything different.

Think Martin and Phillips will be fine they just need a run of games I’m surprised people are judging so quickly .

Original post was hopefully miles away from me saying "utter dross". Just a tad concerning. Which is why tbh a win at Donny tues would be good so they all get game time. Suppose FA Cup looming as well which is another chance to get time in their legs. I.didnt look at the bench sat and see many positive options however......

My main worry would be a lack of options and pace in the forward areas especially on the back of the Thomas injury.

Far too early to pass judgement about any of them really. If I remember right, only Edwards has made a league start for us so far.

Only Connel and maybe Norwood in spells fit the bill for me. We have no direct player who runs at defenders like Thomas did. Even if sometimes there was.no end product, he occupied two opposition players every time he got the ball which freed up space for such as Norwood etc.

Totally agree. Losing 2-0 at home and Duff has not one striker available to him who he has confidence in to bring on. An injury to Cole and we are completely cream-crackered!

Bumping this after this afternoon. Blimey. I'd add Cadden to the list of concerns as well. Way too narrow 1st half and offered little going forwards. And as for the other three today.....

Norwood & Connell have looked decent at times and not really seen enough of Cadden yet. Thought Edwards looked ok but he’s gone backwards recently. As for Martin and Phillips, they both look really poor at present and as for Tedic….just a pointless signing.
