Yep - around 6 - 6.15 ish.

Mornings will arrive a little later for the next 6 weeks, until the hour goes back on and we catch up.

Now - If we were to pursue this crazy idea of double summertime, ie - clocks stay as they are for the winter, then advance another hour for summer, this is what it would mean.

These nice September mornings would be dark until well after 7am, and would creep towards nearly 8am by the time the clocks go back in October.

Earlier this year we had a debate on the BBS about this issue. My point was that it would ruin early mornings at a time of year when they should still be enjoyed. This is the time of year when you notice it most. Judge for yourselves.

I'm not particularly a morning person, but I don't begrudge those who like a little peaceful daylight to themselves, outside, or with their dogs, before the rest of the rabble arrives.

Let's hope they drop this crazy idea for good.

I would rather it be dark in the morning when I'm asleep

than dark, as it is under the present system, from 4pm in the winter. All for the change myself.

I don't want any extra daylight

The curtains fade quick enough as it is, add an extra hour and they'll fade even more.

I'd prefer light nights, but I'd be happy even if they only put the clocks forward in February rather than wait till the end of march. In the back end of feb it gets light at 7am and gets dark at 6pm, put them forward then for me.

As someone who has been burgled by people sneaking

around in the dark at 4pm while we were still at work then I'm all for the change. It would help to cut crime as this is the peak time for thieving tw*ts.

    Don't be so difficult.

We had it from 1968 to 1972. It was great.

and something similar during the war which has been slapped with a 100 year secrecy ban (conspiracy theory anyone?)

    Ugh..

When based in Canada, 'they' introduced "Double Daylight Saving" Clocks changed by 2 hours.

It was nice when they went back - got an extra 2 hours in bed, but not so nice when they went forward though!

Parents were also complaining about trying to get kids into bed & asleep when it was still bright sunshine outside.

Is this argument going to crop up again?!

Leave things as they are forward in spring and back in autumn

No we didn't - please get your facts straight

We retained ordinary summertime for 3 years from 68-71, and it proved unpopular.

We are on summertime now. The clocks go back next month.

DOUBLE summertime is leaving us on single summertime, then advancing yet another hour next year.

Double summertime was implemented during WW2 to assist the home war effort. It has never been trialed in a modern day society.

    So there.

to me coming home from work and being able to do a barbie and it being light and more importantly warm at 9pm wouldn't upset me

You can have that under present summertime - no problem.

But - don't you think daylight at 11.45pm is pushing it a bit?

I see what you mean but conversely I get awoken by daylight at 4am in the middle of summer, we could both buy thicker curtains I suppose !!!! also it would be warmer for an hour later. I think it's pre dark night blues that are affecting me !!!![IMG]
