http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tml?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 Here's his wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Adams#Coaching_career I would prefer him over some already mentioned.
Nigel Adkins. I look what he achieved at S****horpe on gates of less than 5,000 with a penny pinching chairman, and I think he could be the man to take us forward. I'd also say he is a "name" at this level which could give us kudos at this level.
Probably had decent pay offs from his last two jobs Mario, and he needs to get back on the horse at some point.
Like anyone else, the better he does the longer he should get. I think Thordarsson and Ritchie deserved longer, I would like to have seen Robins stay longer, Simon Davey got too long and Wilson had about the right amount of time. I've no problem with backing a manager through a trough as long as there are peaks. Basically, what I am saying is I don't know until I can judge him (or anyone else) on their results and performances. Honest answer.
Having been sacked by a Championship club I think he would be looking at bottom end championship club or drop down to a supposedly ambitious league one club.
He'd do for me. Achieved a lot in his career to date. Not sure we could tempt or afford him, and, were we to somehow do so, I think there'd be big expectations on him producing, and quickly. It would be a coup though, as would Rosler. Expect someone like Johnson/Cooper though. Underwhelming, but less expectation.
Yeah, I've no idea how appointing managers works but there is certainly an argument to say that it might not all be about the money. A manager's stay at a club is usually short anyway - he'll either be sacked or taken by a team higher up the pyramid. It would be no real loss for someone like Adkins to come to Barnsley and ONLY earn £200,000pa or whatever we're paying - unless he failed of course, then it could well be a disaster for his CV. It's all about whether he wants to come here and take that risk, if you want to call it that. There's a risk in every football managerial job, you could even argue that we have some of the strongest resources in the league and that the next incumbent is unlikely to fail anyway. Adkins in!
We could be creative with the contract to enable us to afford him or Rosler. 200k salary, same again in bonus if promoted and pay rise for years in championship.
My fear is that any boss worth his salt is going to avoid BFC like the plague. Our reputation is catching us up, Wilson and Hill are very highly thought of in the game and our treatment of them frowned upon.
Tend to agree. Same applies to players too I reckon. Wilson's treatment of Liam Lawrence was shoddy...
