Isoft, the main software provider on the £12.4bn NHS IT programme, has announced that not only has it written off £165m of revenue - it also suspects "irregularities" in its past accounting which may have caused the company to report income it hadn't received. It has appointed its new auditor, Deloitte, to investigate. Many of the directors from the period involved have resigned (hugely enriched, of course) but may now be feeling a bit nervous. Among them is Sir Digby Jones, chairman of the audit committee that should have been looking out for this sort of thing at the time. Since resigning from Isoft last year, Sir Digby has found a lucrative position as senior adviser to the chief executive of a certain large accountancy firm . . . Deloitte!
