BARNSLEY FOOTBALL CLUB STATEMENT - BRIAN HOWARD (30/09/08) Posted on: Tue 30 Sep 2008 AS our fans will attest, it is not the normal policy of Barnsley FC to comment on transfers to and from the Club until complete and irrevocable agreement has been reached. Given the widespread reporting yesterday that the Club has agreed terms with Sheffield United for the transfer of Brian Howard, it is necessary to make a statement. As at 9.00am this morning, the terms offered in writing by Sheffield United for the transfer of Brian were not acceptable, most particularly in terms of proposed sell-on arrangements. Overnight, Barnsley FC has received a further acceptable offer for Brian from another club, and as is proper, the Club has reverted to his agents to obtain formally, their client's instructions in relation to this opportunity. We will make further statements as necessary.
All those fans that were calling him a w@nker will be feeling stupid now wont they Seen as the offer never even got as far as Howard...
where exactly does it say the offer never got as far as Brian, I see nowhere in that statement that or is there another statement?
It says that the clubs couldn't agree terms Wouldn't they have to agree terms before sending the player for contract talks? It seems the wrong way round to do things to send your player to go and find out how much they were offering him only for the club to then reject the offer leaving you with a player that now knows he could get more elsewhere but you wont let him leave.
Mirror says he was promised double his wages £8000 So why have Blunts promised that ???? (doh) (doh) (doh)
dunno, but I would have thought .. that Brian would be totally aware of matters, being as how the local media was buzzing with it.I for one, in that situation, would have asked questions to my club and my agent as to what the deal was, would'nt you.
I guess what will have happened is Sheff Utd made a verbal offer that Barnsley found acceptable. Brian went for his medical and sorted stuff out with Sheff utd. They were happy so submitted their written bid, but Barnsley had some problems with the finer points of the deal. Either that or someone at the club had a change of heart and decided we're not selling Howard to the ******* scum for any amount of money.
My Guess They heard Blackwell on Radio Sheff last night answering the question 'Did he take much persuading to come to Sheff Utd ?' reply with 'well look around you, who needs persuading ?' or words to that effect and thought 'arrogant ****' we'll knacker thee up.
I would and I think he will have I've no doubt that he knew he was supposedly going there but will he have actually agreed to a deal before the club even agreed to sell him? ie will him going to sheff utd or not have been upto him at that point? it would seem not, not until both clubs agree a fee
Well they said another club came in with an acceptable offer........... Hopefully that contains cash and a player in return
We need a deal where a striker and some dosh is coming in......... has Birmingham got plenty of forwards on their books?
