Our match away at West Ham.

Was it Ian Evans or Ian Banks that scored for us? Grenville's book lists both (in different sections)

    I'm 31 so I definitely wasn't there myself :)

    Thanks mate.

He does say it was a header but gives it to Banks in the mini report. But the list of league cup goalscorers by match towards the end of the book does say Evans.

Getting his Ians crossed by the sound of it.

Think we took the lead with that goal ? Sure I recall a pic in the Chron of Evans scoring.

Evans with a close header from a corner in front of the away fans. West Ham woke up and got two quite soon after. There were highlights on the London news that nigh and Evans was interviewed. He said something like our performance had shown we could play football. It cut back to the studio and the presenter said let's not get carried away there. Not that I nearly put the screen in.

Sure it was David Cross who scored Hammers second goal with his hand.

It was. I was there. I seem to recall he broke a finger in the process.

I was there too, we just got in the ground and we scored!! Our driver decided West Ham played at Highbury for some reason, hence arriving in the 70th minute!

Was it over 2 legs and we lost 2 0 at home?

it was 0-0 at home Fitzy, which makes our 2nd leg there effectively a knockout tie. :)

Just remembered, on the way home, we spoke to the Wags in a service station on the M1and they said that Cross had admitted to them that he'd scored with his hands

I was there. Dad always made us stand in home end. At 11 you don't realise the danger

It was a pure knockout cup game at that stage of the competition (we'd beaten Second Division Cardiff City 3-2 at home in the previous round).
