4th favourites behind Ipswich, Wednesday, and Derby...... https://m.skybet.com/football/sky-bet-league-one/event/29301893 Sounds about right. I don't get why Ipswich are favourites but we should be making the play offs at the least.
Because more money has been put on them. It's nothing to do with reality other than bookies balancing books.
I’m not sure how any prediction can be made for us at this stage given we don’t know who the coach will be or what players the squad will include. Any bet right now is a blind punt.
Is that the case for an anti-post market like this? I'd presume it's as much to do with probability as it is money placed on it. Otherwise, you'd get the favourite changing week on week based on who's put fans have put the most money down, and it's not often like that.
I reckon you could make that argument for any team. As someone says above, Derby currently only have 5 senior players. Wycombe are probably best placed, but again that's assuming they don't lose half of their squad and manager.
Yeah 100%. Anyone putting bets on now for next season is taking wild punts out of nowhere or making up some logic in their own mind.
Just shows how little the bookies know about the state of affairs at Oakwell. Mid-table at best as things look at the moment, based on best players exiting, but factoring in a decent managerial appointment. Bigger clubs than Barnsley have gone through the trapdoor into the fourth tier.
Outplayed by Barrow League 2, outplayed by Bolton League 1, outplayed consistently by championship teams....... I wouldn't have even put us in the top half!
Play off push at the very least. Bookies have it right based on how things are now as in nobody has been sold. You're saying mid table because you're assuming lots of players will leave but don't know how they would be replaced.
Compared to now, the squad should look massively different at the point the transfer window closes. I'm surprised we've offered the number of contracts we have so far, but that should mean we're looking to sell more of our contracted players than perhaps initially envisaged.
What’s the odds on us getting relegated again as I think that’s probably more likely than a promo push.
They may not be, but having such a massive squad is crazy, so we must be aiming to sell around 10-12 if we’re also planning on making signing to freshen things up.
