Gotta agree with you, Ivor - Bowyer's reputation preceded him on this occasion and shame on Peter Crouch for wading in like he did - it was the over-reaction of the Liverpool players that got him sent off.
If this situation arose with a Chelsea/Arsenal/Manure player, the FA would prolly overturn the decision and take action on the team who dared to get one of their superstars sent off. With it being Bowyer they'll be rubbing their hands, thinking of the fine!
Having just seen it Bowyer went in 2-footed after the whistle had already gone - don't think he can have too many complaints about the sending off although how Gerrard got away without so much as a booking, after first shoving Shearer and then gabbing Bowyer around the throat, is a mystery.
