According to the official site Thats an impossible situation LEEDS APPEAL TO THROW SEASON INTO CHAOS Posted on: Fri 18 Apr 2008 LEEDS United's appeal against their 15-point Football Leagus deduction could throw the League One promotion race into total chaos. Arbitration panel Chairman Sir Philip Otton confirmed yesterday that a verdict will be returned 'within three to four weeks', meaning the decision could be made ten days after the Play Off Semi Finals are due to be concluded. A three-week wait would run to May 12 leaving the final League One table uncertain and issues concerning promotion and the play offs unresolved at the end of a 46-game season. Leeds are currently a dozen points behind second placed Carlisle United and while a full reinstatement of the 15 point deduction would give the Elland Road chance of denying Swansea City the title. Swansea currently sit ten points clear of third-placed Doncaster with three matches remaining but have not had their promotion to the Championship officially confirmed by the Football League because of the Leeds United dispute. The football world - and the Championship - must wait and see what happens and it could be another month until things become clear. also on the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leeds_united/7354091.stm
but won't the season be over by then?? what will they do about the play-offs? and what if carlisle go up second and then leeds get there points back meaning they finish second, very harsh on carlisle who have done nothing wrong
Compensation best they can hope for if decision after end of norml season I think the football league should re-instate the points from the season they got relegated as compensation.
Probably hoping that Leeds get promoted through the play offs so they don't have to make a decision as such. They could then say deduction stands or we'll give you x points back which would have still meant you were in the playoffs which you've won. It's definitely stupid leaving a decision that long which involves other teams futures.
no be funnier if it was just enought to mean they finished 7th missing out on the play-offs by one point
Its an absoloute joke!!!! Leeds should have 5 more points docked for messing around like this!! What about Luton and Bournmouth??? Will they get their points back!!? They think they have a devine right to have no points taken off them just cos their a "big club"!
If they get their points back . . . . . . then that was supposed to be part of the deal that allowed them to enter League One despite not meeting the League's requirement criteria. So presumably that would open up the possibility of the affected party or parties appealing against THAT decision, i.e. to get them kicked out altogether. It'd be an expensive case but we could have bucket collections and stuff to raise the money.
To me that smells like Wait until the season is over and ifLeeds get into the playoffs look things and give them just enough points back to not put them in the automatic promotion spots. THat way you brush it under the carpet, and the FA can make out they've listened and been lenient, hoping that puts the issue to bed.
If Leeds don't get into the playoffs then they've got a tougher call to make.

You can almost hear the prayers at league headquarters Dear God, Please let Carlisle be good enough to be more than 15 points ahead of Leeds this season. Oh and don't screw it up by making Walsall good enough to over take them!
To be fair The messing about is the league - Leeds submitted their appeal back in January and the league have arsed around about til now. I heard on the radio this morning that it could be the end of the season.....it's a farce, if they then award any points back and the playoffs have already started....well what if they were 6th and knocked out the 3rd placed team in semis......even if they do, as someone suggested, and they give them enough points to be 3rd then you've screwed up the pairings in the playoffs!
