we should get this lad in,on a free from brum http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/birmingham_city/6666979.stm
so you are suggesting that we havent a cat in hells chance of getting him?i disagree, he's a player that hasnt played much recently and needs to regain his reputation and form that made brum sign him in the first place,he has a much better chance of doing that at a club like Barnsley than most,he wont have to drop a division either,i suppose you feel we have reached our class of signing with dwayne mattis then, with that kind of outlook, better expect another season long struggle then ffs!
Very unlikely we will sign him. Premiership clubs were after him a couple of seasons back and I wouldn't say hes on a small wage, so I doubt it very much.
like i stated in my previous post,he was highly rated a couple of seasons back, not now as he's hardly played due to injuries and selection, players like him often are prepared to take a drop in wages and/or division to get themselves back to playing something like.True, we may not be able to sign him or he may not want to come to us but to dismiss it as a pipe dream is not quite true.
Wages, Wages, Wages There are going to be many good players available out there but not wishing to burst any ones bubble but there will not be m,any takers for a club with a maximum £2000 a week pay cap. The reality will be next season that BFC will still be one of lowest payers i the championship
Just out of interest where do you get your figures AR "its about time some of our players started to earn their 150k per year" 3k a week and that was last season.
RE: Just out of interest , Wages Here's some figures from BBC web site, April 2006.</p> Average Wages by Division. Rounded down. </p> Premiership £647K</p> Championship £195K </p> League One £67K</p> League Two £49K </p> AR stated £150K . I suspect the Championship average is inflated by the 3 clubs who are relegated from the premiership.</p> Constantine was offered 3 times his Port Vale wage. Port Vale average with a wage bill of £1.4M assuming they have 22 players is £64K so he was offered around £192k. </p>
RE: Just out of interest , Wages Some of the Premiership players must be on piss poor wages then. The Chelsea and Man Utd players are on more than that a month. Poor buggers, John Terry is only getting 120,000 a week. Ashley Cole thought he was being insulted cos Arsenal only offered him 65,000 a week .
RE: Just out of interest , Wages And theres more.</p> These figures are PFA figures they were published in April 2006 in the Independent. </p> </p> <font size="2"><div class="sihf"> PREMIERSHIP WAGES BY AGE </div> <div class="mva"><div class="bull">17-18: £24,500</div> <div class="bull">19-20: £95,000</div> <div class="bull">21-22: £390,000</div> <div class="bull">23-24: £582,500</div> <div class="bull">25-26: £653,000</div> <div class="bull">27-28: £899,500</div> <div class="bull">29-30: £806,000</div> <div class="bull">31-32: £586,000</div> <div class="bull">33+: 660,500</div> </div> <div class="mva"><hr /></div> <div class="mva"><div class="bull">Average: £676,000*</div> </div> <div class="mva">(* Average figure takes into account players aged over 20)</div></font> </p>
average includes no doubt all the squad players including all full time pros some of which may never have made an appearnce so I suppose 13k a week in average is believable for the prem. BFC's turnover if abart 6m pa so if say only 3m is spent on wages and we have 40 players then our average ought to be in the region of 1500 notes a week. So no doubt a number of players are on a significantly greater figure. Remember though as GS pointed out some clubs still getting parachute payments in excess of our turnover as well as there own turnover from higher crowds than us. Its quite easy to see how we might be outbid on wages and there is nothing we can conceivably do about it if we wish to remain in business.
I think you'll find AR's £150K comment was a bit tongue in cheek. He does have a sense of humour, unlike some.
