Top player, Anton. Was gutted when they sold him.
I think we sold Gorry, a left back, to Newcastle on the same day?
Could be wrong though, it's a long time ago!!

Thought Gorry went before Anton ? I'd not been watching us long when he was sold - as a bairn I was baffled why we sold our 'best' players.... Mind, £60k was a fair old sum back then.

Dave Cusack, played cricket against him when he was

Donny manager. He was useless, dropped a sitter and was out for nowt.

Three were sold in quick succession Mick Pickering and Gorry were the others. I think Iley had a difficult time with a Board of Directors who continually wanted to get rid of any player worth a few bob. I believe he would have got us promoted if he could have retained his better players. Fans used to scream for his head, which in my view was totally unjustified.
