Brucie was a frustrating player A la Nardiello and Mifsud - tried to play off the last defender and was made a mug of too easily by a well-marshalled offside trap. Back in the era when we were creating chances for fun, many a move broke down in this fashion. The difference is that when he sprung the trap or the ball broke to him in the box he was a reliable bet for a shot on target, whereas Mifsud would tamely pass it back to their keeper and Nardiello would pull his hamstring trying to kick it.
Was watching the goals from the Huddersfield 7-1 the other day Brucie's turn for the seventh is something to behold.
Main difference Being that Dyer scored 15-20 goals a season reliably and Nardia and Mifsud were/are not good enough. Yes some of his offsides were daft, but many were trying to break the offside trap and get a one on one, some of the time resulting in one of his many goals.
