two fantastic legends tomorrow in chris morgan & brendon oconnell. made over 200 apperences each for the red proper legends not people who played 28 games ie david dedar hurst
I can't believe I'm missing O'Connell receiving legendary status. Cult hero. The original and best headless chicken.
What reception will Morgon be given......if you hear someone shouting.... ****Come back Chris - All is forgiven******* !!!!!! That will be me
RE: morgon.... hpoe it is a good one as he served the reds very well when he was here and he did as much as he could when we were in the **** of the field i think he is a barnsley legend
RE: morgon.... A good one I hope. Was sold when the club was in a shambles (Sean lewis et al). Mad as a balloon but gave his all for Barnsley.
that just proves you know nowt.. everytime morgan breathed he fecked up. glad to see him go, and I suspect that their are a few others who agree. couldn't fault his commitment though, commitment to **** up and let the opposition score
RE: that just proves you know nowt.. Harsh that, was prone to the odd howler but wasn't helped by the fact he was a nipper in a struggling side.
O'Connell Brendan is one of my all time favourite Reds, probably cos I was an impressionable teenager at that time and anyone who bombed round the pitch giving his all was all right by me.
Brendan O Connell - A true legend Not a great load of talent but he gave 110% every game and scored some important goals
RE: Agreed, always gave 100% even if he was shocking at times! Came on leaps & bounds under Bassett cos got some coaching. Then came Spackers and Parkin and the mentalism returned !
I know I know... fact is, I didn't want him to go, was repeating some comments that were made at the time by other people and was an attempt to get an argument going on ere. Cos I have seen comments already, ie Good, Bad and all that I liked him, plus he scared me when I bumped into him in tarn, massive he is. Just that Sheff Utd, of all places.... But your comment sums him up...
Morgon is like a stick of Barnsley rock...cut him in half and it will say Barnsley.... When he played for the TARN he was only the defender in the side Ok he makes mistakes But he is Barnsley through and through........so he gets my vote
RE: O'Connell Agreed. What he lacked in talent he more than made up for in effort and determination. Am I correct in remembering him scoring against the Blunts and Oakwell erupting?
RE: O'Connell Thought it was him. I remember watching it back on the highlights when I got home and it was almost as good seeing it live. Camera shaking..... proper goosebumps.
RE: O'Connell One of my best memories of him is grimsby away. He got the ball in our own half and set off on his usual run towards the corner flag. It seemed like the whole away end started pointing left towards the goal and shouting.
